TimHortman Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Hey guys, Sorry if this is old news, but I just heard about it the other day from a friend. From what I have found, Moebius Models is coming out with an injected VIPER Mk II from Battlestar Galactica. There are several outlets who are taking pre-orders, but times of release range from "January 2010" to "First Quarter 2010". http://www.clubmoebius.com/ProductDetails....ProductCode=912 I have also heard that they are doing a Galactica too in the coming months. I know I am looking foward to the release! Does anyone have further info? Cheers!
TimHortman Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 FYI: I found a few more links for the new Viper - looks like it will be a winner! http://culttvman.com/main/?p=3958 http://culttvman.com/main/?p=1916
TimDarrah Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Already have one on pre-order from CultTVMan. I can't wait to get it.
ewahl Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 At least Moebius waited until the series was concluded before issuing this Viper II kit. If they had jumped on this earlier, the cynic in me says the series would have been cancelled. Witness how long the original BSG lasted on ABC after the Viper I was issued by Monogram (one season, when the ratings justified more years). Model kits seem to put a hex on TV shows. I know, I know. There will be exceptions taken to this statement. Let 'em fly. Ed
TimHortman Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 Just pre-ordered a few myself! Ed - I think they would have been able to sell a ton more if they had released the kit while the series was on the air, but I understand what you're saying!
philp Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Even though it is not in my scale, I may have to get one.
odwinn Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 heck yea, my area just got them in. now i just have to find the time to go get one. been looking forwards to this kit for a while now,
Dick Montgomery Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Figures... I just started building a vintage Viper (no box, no decals) and now am looking forward to the "II". BSB was/is one of my favs and the models are cool!
TimHortman Posted April 7, 2010 Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 Yep - I got a notice last week that mine have shipped - though they would be here today, but no joy so far.
TimDarrah Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Mine showed up last week, I also bought the E/B and masking sets for it. The kit reminds me of an AMT car kit, being molded in white. The resin figure looks great. You get markings for two Vipers, Apollo & Starbuch, go figure. I haven't done any test fitting, but then I don't do that until I actually build the kit. The down side that I see is the photos they use for the colours of it, is so small, you'll need a magnifying glass to read it, but the decal placement guide is large. Wonder why they didn't combine the two into one drawing. They show that they are going to do a Viper Mk. VII in 1/32, the Galactica in 1/4105 (?) and a Cylon Centurion in 1/6th.
