Ron Bell Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 It never fails. Just when you think you've done a one of a kind job on something, someone comes out with a brand new kit of it with all the detail you just busted your hump on included. That was the case with this DUKW. For years, the Airfix offering in 1/76 was the only game in town in any scale. It was very old and very crude. Very toy-like. Well, it caught my interest after I saw the prototype at Bovington, so I took it on. Sanded off practically all molded on detail, re-built the intereior and made the poor fit good. Then, just when I was finishing it, Italearie releases their's in 1/72! Well, I entered it in a couple of contests, but no one ever read my info on it cause the only comment I overheard was, "That's the new Italearie DUKW, but never mind that, look at that Tiger II over there!". Sigh.
Mark Deliduka Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Well I like it Ron! Forget the Tiger I, there's too many of them out there anyway! I like seeing some Allied armor! Thanks for posting! Somewhere on my bench I have a DUKW just sitting, practically finished. I lost then decals ages ago so it has been just sitting.... Maybe someday I'll get some decals and finish it.
Mark Aldrich Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Ron, Vey Nice work. I Love the DUKW. Rode them in Wisconsin and Seattle. Even though they are not the same type, they were such a blast to ride. Mark
philp Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Looks good. Built that kit years ago (like 30). I actually have the Italeri version and am thinking of doing a civilian version just to be different.
