ajlafleche Posted January 11, 2025 Report Posted January 11, 2025 Boudica was a warrior queen of the Icene tribe of Britons who fought the Romans circa 40 CE. Thiis is FeR's excellent 1/10 bust. She is painted mostly in AK Gen3 paints. The red hair is based on a YouTube video by Vince Venturella. 1
steev Posted January 14, 2025 Report Posted January 14, 2025 Well done! Looks like you've got those AK G3 paints sorted out. I've played with them a little but haven't gotten too comfortable with them yet, at least not when I try to spray them. Steven
Highlander Posted January 17, 2025 Report Posted January 17, 2025 (edited) The combination of the sculpting and painting of her hair is very, very good. As is the lighting on her face. Edited January 17, 2025 by Highlander
Dick Montgomery Posted January 18, 2025 Report Posted January 18, 2025 Looking great! BTW- there is a "memorial" to Boudica and her daughters in London. It is on the north end of Westminster Bridge (the Parliament building and Elizabeth Tower are on that side of the Thames and just across the street from the memorial. I've seen articles in print that indicate Boudica was killed and buried near King's Cross Station in London but no memorial plaque marks the spot. If you Google-Map Boudica's memorial you'll note that the view is blocked a bit by a souvenir stand.
Ron Bell Posted January 18, 2025 Report Posted January 18, 2025 And yet, we have no idea what she really looked like.
Dick Montgomery Posted January 30, 2025 Report Posted January 30, 2025 What? No photographs exist? No plaster castings?! No paintings? What's this world coming to?!!!!
Ron Bell Posted January 30, 2025 Report Posted January 30, 2025 Well, there were reports circulating on the interweb of the existence of a caricature she had done on the midway at the Scarborough Fair, but it has never been seen.
Dick Montgomery Posted January 31, 2025 Report Posted January 31, 2025 And here is the photo I took of the "monument" to her. The photo is dated in 2022. Note the souvenir stand in front of the monument. Rather a poor location as it blocks the view somewhat.
