FINALLY!!!! Had this one as a little kid. My dad built it for me back in 68 or 69ish? Anyway, always wanted to build one but no way am I paying collector prices for it. THANK YOU ATLANTIS!!!!!

They and Monogram did models of ships of that era that no one else did. I/600 is a good scale as there are many after market accessories available. Here's an old Monogram ship kit of that era to show that they can be made up into nice models.

Magnificent work Ron! I also agree about 1/600 being a good scale for ships. They are small enough not to take up much space; yet big enough to see and/or add details that are difficult on a 1/700 scale ship.

 

I am so looking forward to getting that Bainbridge!

Pre ordered mine a few days ago! Now I gotta get some etched rails for it. Does anyone make 1/600 3"-50s????

For the guns, I would have suggested Shapeways but they went belly up recently. I checked Model Monkey and they have some stuff in 1/600 but not 3" guns. Maybe spend some time on Google looking for 3d printed parts or even on some ship modeling sites message forums.
