JHockett Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Just getting started on this one. 54mm Latorre figure. The face is mostly complete and shading is started on the jacket. The highlights on the jacket are not as harsh on reality as they look in the pics. Jim
dmorrissette Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Jim: Face looks great! Lets see him when he's all dressed Dave
mrpolk Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Yeah, but he's got the easy part done. The pain w Highland figures is the sett. Nice job, hope you have it finished in time for Columbus
Dreamsof51 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I've tried this type of model other than pilot figures in aircraft. Looks good so far. Chris
JHockett Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for the kind comments. Mike, I have to disagree a little. I find the hose to be more of a pain than the kilt. The pleats in the back of the kilt can hide a multitude of sins, but the hose are generally visible all the way around, so everthing has to line up correctly. Jim
rvazquez Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Great work friend!. The face looks very real! Regards, Rodolfo
Jack Kennedy Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Just getting started on this one. 54mm Latorre figure. The face is mostly complete and shading is started on the jacket. Yu have a great start on a fine looking figure. Someone suggested using plaid paint but I couldn't find it anywhere. Jack Kennedy
JHockett Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 A little update. Got out the tartan paint and started the kilt. Still have a little touch-up on the lines. Jim
mrpolk Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Looking good, Jim. As far as hose goes, that's why I like gaiters
JohnRatzenberger Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I really envy you guys with the artistic and technicals skills to do figures like this ...
Dick Montgomery Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Ok...I'm a rookie when it comes to figs. What do you prime it with if it is Plastic? Metal? Resin?
JHockett Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 Ok...I'm a rookie when it comes to figs. What do you prime it with if it is Plastic? Metal? Resin? My answer to all of the above would be Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. Goes on really well, covers good, provides excellent adhesion for paint, and doesn't obscure detail. Jim
JHockett Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 A little more painted, and some refinement on touch-ups and shading.
