Well here we go again. Some pictures of this build. Camo is on but needs to be touched up. Keel paited and drybrushed...Just need a layer of smoke added. Panel lines redone with sprue. I am farther along on this than these pictures but I have not taken any new pictures yet. The build goes on. Bill Thanks to my daughter for helping get the pictures posted from Photobucket.

Thanks for checking into this for me. I'll figure something out in time. Bill

SWEET! You done good on all of the SAM's, Ron. Love em all. Bill

Well that didn't work. When you hit post, the error message comes up, so you cant post the picture. I'm getting really peaved about this (from both sides). I can't show the picture to post because of the error message, so you can't post anything because of this. "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community". This is what keeps coming up in an error box. What does this mean???

Eric, I have a picture I tried posting in the aircraft section right now under Voodoo. It's sitting there with test post by it. The error message is on it also. All of the pictures previously on the post are from photobucket so it's not like I don't know how to post anything. I realize in the "Unarmed and Unafraid" section those were thumbnails from Photobucket. I couldn't open the images to post them as before for some reason. That is why I went to shutterfly. If anyone can tell me how to get into the old photobucket maybe that would work. Everytime I hit the line item on the screen that says to do so, the site freezes up. So if you just go into the Aircraft/Voodo section now there is a picture in the netherworld waiting to be posted...I think. Hope this helps. Bill

We shall see on what awaits the bashing of decals. I had some pictures to post yesterday but the Gods were angry and would not let me. I'll try again soon. Bill

Mark, That is the problem I was having with photo bucket. I can't get the pictures to load correctly. Their new site stinks as far as i'm concerned. I can't even get into my pictures on the site anymore. The problem I am having now is with shutterfly. I posted the pictures (nice large ones) from Shutterfly in the topic box and added a few comments on them. When I tried to post the reply, a comment box came up with the following in it: "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community". I cancelled the post and posted something in this forum to find out what that means. See, size still matters. Bill

As a user of photobucket for all of my posts up to now, everything was working fine. I tried usung the "new and improved" version of Photobucket for the first time the last few days. I could not load anything on to the site. So now I am using "Shutterfly" for my uploads. When I tried posting some pictures a little while ago, the pictures downloaded onto the post area like they should have. I wrote out some snappy and insightful comments about the pictures and attempted to post the new banter. I then received the following: "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community". I am just wondering what this means? Does IPMS not support Shutterfly, or are there other things going on? Are there any work-arounds or what. Left with tales to tell. Bill

UNARMED and UNAFRAID
WildBill50 replied to WildBill50's topic in THEME PICS: Turning point of the war.
Thank you gentlemen. All of the builds were nice to do except for the U-2. Soft plastic and large seams to fill on the wings. Best of the group is the F-4. I'd stack that Revell model up to anything that Tamiya or Hasegawa has to offer. The only thing that the Tamiya kit has on it is the one piece fuselage. In fact I used the Tamiya fin cap instead of chopping the kit part up to fix the bad angles offered on the kit part. There are two in the Tamiya kit, one to make an F-4C or a D model. EASY, SCHMEASY. The SR-75 was cool also but much like a submarine kit...just a few parts. It's a very large kit. Thanks again. Bill -
Well after seeing Mr Hodge's P-3 Orion, I had to get back to this build and get it done. I got a coat of paint on it and now to retouch it up. Pictures to follow soon. I added sprue panel lines to fix where they were sanded away. So far so good. Bill

Here are some pictures of some of my recon aircraft. Testor's 1/48th SR-71, Testor's 1/72 SR-75 with XR something on its back. Testor's 1/48 U-2R with Cutting Edge Senior Span conversion. Accurate Miniature's 1/72 Predator UAV. Revell 1/32nd RF-4C Phantom and finally Testor's 1/48 A-11 Oxcart (converted from SR-71. Sorry about the small pic's but Photobucket was fighting with me. Hope you can see them and hope you like them. Bill

THAT is one nice ORION!!! Fantastic job, Gil. You built an entire aircraft and I'm still wallowing on putting a new nose on a Voodoo. I applaud your persistance. This gives me incentive to finish my build now. Bill

Very cool SAM's, Ron. I built the Herc awhile back and have been waiting for the Ajax to get re-popped. Even with all of the cleanup on them, they really make up into an interesting and different kind of armor piece . Great job. Bill

Where's John Wayne? Great looking bird. I really like the understated weathering. It's just enough. Bill
-
Can't wait to see it. Fantastic job so far, Gil. Bill

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya! Paint each one a different way.

Gil, That looks fantastic. Markings look really nice. I hate this part...White, red, white prop tips. All the pic's I looked at show this. Your choice, they look really cool. Just an observation. Model on!!!! Bill
-
Thanks Wes. I really had a great time building this model (except for the original paint job). It turned into a nice "stress reducer" after all of the repaints ofthe natural metal. The camo scheme was a natural. I don't know if the gunship concept was but it got me through the build. Overall, it looks better on the shelf than in the trash. Again, thanks for the input. Bill

Cool!!!

Looking good sir! Do you have some dihedral on the wings? They look a little flat to me. I believe there is some on the aircraft and I would hate for you to get too far along in painting if it needs to be adjusted. Might be me though. Keep us posted. Bill

Richard, I like to make a chisel point; that way you have two surfaces. The sharp point and a flat side. I take an x-acto blade and scrape it down to flatten it and sharpen it both. The lead is firm enough that it holds up well. I use "Prismacolor" pencils. Good luck. Bill
-
Richard, Usually once or twice with the colored pencil works out well. You can use it for some othere effects also, ie...artificial horizon, half blue/ half black. Silver pencil for small chips or nat metal bezels, etc. Experiment with different colors, you can even blend them together. Dry brushing results with the whole area a little bit painted while the pencil can be used with little more precision in my opinion. Bill
-
You can also use a colored pencil (white or cream) to gently go over the needle detail after painting the guage black. Then use future or clear gloss on the dial. The pencil gives a whole lot of control. Bill

Hope it doesn't become a chore for you. Looks great...So when are you cutting out the bomb bay and super detailing that (just kidding)? Bill
