Cool. Thanks for the heads up on that. I'll be watching for yours to see how you do it. I'll also ask my buddy on the LEM about the best way too. I'm sure he'll know since he crewed them then.
-
Thanks James. I'll give that a shot. I appreciate the tip. Thanks Phil. According to a friend of mine who crewed gun trucks for a year in the 'Nam, this M-35 is just fine for converting to a gun truck. I plan on getting about three or four more to do just that with his help. Meanwhile, I look forward to seeing what you do. Thanks again for the comments.

Mike, Thanks! Glad you like them. Thanks James. I'll get to that front wheel. What's the best way to fix them with mineral spirits? Just spray over the pigments, or use capillary action with a brush? I'll look into the Warpigs. Gotta get paid on my next job first, then I'll go on a "Merry Christmas to Me" buying binge. Thanks again for the great comments!

Finally! I can claim some more done! First off, I am pleased to announce my US Army taking delivery of my new Pegasus Hobbies 1/72 scale M-46 Patton tank. Here it is completed. I finished it with a dusting of weathering powders from Tank Rat's AFV Depot. I used his Old Rust on the exhaust pipes and tracks, Black Soot on the upper part of the fenders and overall I dusted it with his Dusty Buff. I am a bit disappointed that when I shot a new coat of dull over it to seal in the powders, it caused them to fade out a bit. I'll have to re-powder them later I guess. For now, I'm calling them done and taking them to show at my IPMS meeting. I'm sending this to my Armor depot now for deployment to my shelf: My next finished model is my Academy 1/72 scale M-35 Deuce-and-a-half cargo truck. I also finished this with the same weathering powders from Tank Rats AFV Depot and ran into the same issue when I tried to seal them onto this model. Still, I'm pretty pleased at how this turned out, except for the windscreen. I'll be going back later to re-scrape them once the glue dries again. This one is also on it's way to the Depot to be deployed with my Transportation Corps: Well, that completes a couple more models from the Duke. Hopefully my next ones to be finished will be those seven halftracks. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

Thanks Mike! Check out my newest Thread showing two of these finished already. Hopefully next I'll get the halftracks finished.

Sweet! Thanks Dave. I'll have to check it out.

Well, I'm getting close to the finish line on a couple of these. I have all the tracks on the six Dragon models now, even though on this pic you can't really tell: Next I hope to get the camo patterns on these and then get the machine guns and rockets built and mounted. Next I added the tracks to my M-46 Patton tanks, and also added the decals. I gave the back engine grills a wash of black paint too but so far I have not cemented the upper hull to the lower hull yet, thus the gap in the front. Still, this one is coming close. I like the look of this one too. Watch out! She bites! Finally, my M-35 Deuce-and-a-half is almost done too. Here it is clearcoated waiting for decals. That's it so far. I'm trying to get the truck and the Patton done for the IPMS meeting this Friday. Hopefully it'll happen. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.

Yeah, someone on the Braille Scale Forums on Missing Lynx told me the same thing. Said it was the Su-85. I simply followed the instructions on the sheet and this is what I got. Maybe I'll go back to the kit and see if there's a longer barrel on the sprues that I could change out. I want to do one in Egyptian markings from 1956 also. And even captured Israeli markings as well. I even saw a plate with Syrian markings and camo on it, I might even try that one. I'll wait till the Dragon kit is available and use that. This UM model is a difficult one to build. Thanks for the reply Phil.

Thank you Dave! I've been wanting this for awhile now, and I'm glad I finally have it: I'm taking this to my IPMS meeting for show and tell. Then, once I get a few more projects completed on the bench, I'll start this one. It'll probably happen sometime in December. Thanks again Dave!

Just thought I'd give everyone a glimpse of some of the progress I've made on my seven halftracks. Three have tracks on them, and all of them have their top hulls cemented in place with all the interior detail completed. Now it's just a matter of completing the detail work and the camo patterns, as well as adding the tracks to the other four halftracks. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.

More progress to report. Yesterday I got the Morser and Munitionspanzer painted with the basecoat. Not much else was done with this model except to start some detail painting on the tools so they'd be ready for mounting on the model when that time comes. Here they are now in their new coat of paint: Next, while I had the airbrush out, I also painted the M-35 truck. That one is coming along fast. After painting the OD on it, I painted the chassis with Oily Black. Next I'll be drybrushing the chassis with silver. Next, I decided to see what I could do with the Patton that has been waiting so long to be finished. I finally got the tiger stripes painted somewhat to my satisfaction. I also painted the black areas where the decals go. I believe I'm finally ready to decal this one: Well, that's all the progress I've made so far. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

I might just have to try that. Gonna need about 150 boxes of them though....
-
It sure is Keith! Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks Ron. That is he next technique I will try. Not this model though, I'm declaring it finished and letting it sit on the shelf. I have several other UM models I will try this on. Thank you again.

It took along time, but I finally finished something. It's not quite as finished as I'd like it to be, but I fought the silvering decals for as long as I could and I'm tired of it. So, I went ahead and weathered it and I'm calling it done. This is my 1/72 scale UM Su-100M Self Propelled Gun: I painted it with Testor's Dark Green, airbrushed over it. The I shot a faint buff color over it and then used Tank Rat's weathering powders to finish it. Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.

This is a model I got from Chuck Bush who sold it on the IPMS USA "Wants and Disposals" Forums. I got it for a great price and now got it started at the last St. Crispin's Hobby Day in Anaheim. I got this done this far despite having 'fought' half of the Waterloo campaign against Napoleon. This is the Hasegawa 1/72 scale Morser Karl 54cm mortar. This is a brother to the 60cm Morser Karl called "Thor". It comes complete with a munitionspanzer as seen here: This one is about ready for paint. Then after that there are some final details to add to it before finishing it up. Chuck, thanks again. I hope you like my progress so far.

Grant, Dragon has been promising these for years. I wouldn't hold my breath. Some good kits to look at are the old ESCI or re-released Italeri models. Good models with some solid engineering and pretty good detail. Quite easy to assemble, although occasionally some fit issues may crop up due to the age of the molds. Airfix does a PzIV as well, but it seems to be a 'generic' kind. Not sure what particular 'mark' it is, but it builds well and looks good. It might be able to be made into a 'J' with a few aftermarket conversion bits or some added scratchbuilding. It's been decades since I've built a Pz IV, much less a 'J', so my memory may be a bit sketchy here. Here is a great site that will give you some more comprehensive info on anything Pz IV related: http://www.onthewaymodels.com/ Good luck on that model. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Wow, great lists of projects guys. Thanks to all who posted. Let's hear some more lists guys. Come on now don't be shy!! Tim, I'll try that Future technique on my next UM model. Thanks! Chuck, thanks. I saw all these stacked in my stash and decided that it was time to get them built. I figured, why not do them all at the same time? Ed, I may give your system a shot. It sounds like a great system to be sure you get done. Thanks for posting. Now, who hasn't posted? Come on guys! I showed you mine, lets see yours!!

This includes a couple of aircraft as well since there is no separate Forum for works in progress. Take a look. Okay, here's a few things I've been working on. First off, I'll show the seven Halftracks that I've been working on for the Halftrack/AC Group Build that I'm participating in on the LEM. Here are my seven halftracks: Next is a UM Models Su-100 that I've been fighting for awhile. I just cannot eliminate the decal silvering no matter what I do. Oh well. This one is not a well molded model anyway... Then, just for something different, I've also been working on a couple of cheap aircraft. This has been done to keep me from burning out on armor. Here is the old Pioneer 2 F-100 Super Saber. It has got a coat of primer on it to find all the flaws: Next is the Flugzeug Modelbausten Su-7. I primered this one too to find the flaws on this one. I'm actually building two of them since I have them. This is the pic of the one currently in primer: That's what I've been working on so far. Thanks guys. Comments are welcome.

You got that Spectre? My old man was Spectre with 115 combat missions over Laos. He even gave a presentation on the AC-130 gunship and his experiences in the 'Nam at the 2007 Nationals. I'd love to see your Spectre drawing.

Looks great! I have this beast hanging on my ceiling. Or rather, did, until the hook pulled out and sent it crashing down. Only broke one landing gear and the rear cannon. I didn't look at the instruction when I installed the engine pylons but still got them in the correct place. Yours will be looking good. I'm looking forward to more pics.

The "guess Which Sf Classic Game!"
Mark Deliduka replied to papasmurf's topic in Space, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Yeah, I would have never gotten that one either. I remember reading the book three or four times but I never saw the movie. The list above is gonna be my next rental shopping list. I gotta see some of these movies! -

Man, I've always hated Smurfs! :P ;) I'm stumped. I had a few ideas, but they were guessed. Hopefully someone else will come up with something. -
Thanks guys! I appreciate your responses. Yeah Kev, I always build my aircraft and armor in the scale of gentlemen! Check out the Armor Forum for my latest armor models finished.
