The Duke's Aircraft Of 2009 Updated 2-18-09
Mark Deliduka replied to Mark Deliduka's topic in Aircraft
You are very welcome. I got a little done this weekend, but I'd been so busy that I could only finish one. Oh well, I'll get more finished this evening I'm sure. Pics forthcoming. Thanks for posting. -

Thanks Von! Yes, these are all in "the one true scale: of 1/72. That is all I build (unless I'm building for someone else) The Su-7 came from an obscure company called 'Flugzeug Modelkasten'. This is the only kit of theirs I've ever seen and I haven't seen this company except in model shows where old collections are sold. Decals are on the F-86D so more pics are forthcoming. Thanks again for the great comment! -

Thanks Ron. The top photo is actually a more accurate appearance of the model. You're right though. Sometimes photos are not very good for reference/ Thanks for postin Ron. and thanks for the compliment on my work. Oh, and I'm Mark. :D ;) -
Thanks Ed, I'll run a scan for Scankit too and see what I can get. Dave, that Stryker was actually fairly fast and easy to build. The longest part was doing the suspension underneath. That gets a bit fiddly and makes it a bit tough to get all eight wheels to sit on the ground. I managed though, and the rest was easy. In fact, total assembly time was about one and a half to two hours. That didn't include paint. I should have the decals on it soon, along with my other three models that are ready for decals. Thanks again for posting guys!

Yeah, they are fun to do. I just have to get used to doing these bare metal finishes. Thanks for the comment! -
Ed, thanks for that info. Is Scankit still around? Can their trucks still be purchased? This is really intriguing, I'd love to get a couple of these. Thanks again for the info. Now on to the pics. I promised more, and here it is. My next model ready for decals, in addition to the Stryker, is the little Italian ABM 42 from Italeri. Here it is sporting camouflage for the defense of Rome: These next two models are also ready for decals now too. My two Revell Humvees: Next, I added the interior detail to the two Dragon Humvees. They really pack alot into the little models! Anyone know what colors I should paint these interior details? Now one of these Humvees will have the back hatch and possibly one door open, while the other one will be closed up. Here is the one that will be closed up. The top is only test fit so far so I can see how much interior detail will be visible inside the open hatch: And finally, here is what it will look like with the TOW launcher on top: My apologies again for the blurry pics. The clear top made it difficult for the camera to focus. Well, that is about all the progress I have to show so far today. Stay tuned everyone and remember, comments are welcome.

Well, not much progress to show yet, but at least I can show you my Sabre Dog that is ready for decals. I did start an ancient MPC kit of the Ju-52, but haven't got enough progress on it to justify pics. Anyway, here is the Sabre Dog ready for decals: Stay tuned everyone and remember, comments are welcome. -
Thanks for the suggestion Ed. I'll have to look that up. One problem is how to find a 1/72 scale Kenworth or Peterbilt cab/tractor. I don't know of anyone who makes one. I may have to see if there's a diecast one around. That would be a cool idea. Thanks Mike. Yeah, I'd LOVE to see him try and speedbuild THAT! I think that this is definitely a project I'll be setting up for. Thanks James. On another Forum I have been nicknamed "Maddog Manufacturing"! More to come. Stay tuned guys!

Thanks guys for the replies. Ed, wait till you see my humvees in their camo pattern, their character level went back up! I have five models now at the decal stage; which may happen today after work. Stay tuned! Dave thanks! 1/72 scale armor and aircraft is all I build (along with whatever ship strikes my fancy). I think your set is one of two Dragon Humvee sets I haven't gotten yet; the other being the one with the psyops rig. Yours is the one I want to get though, even though I've already built the Revell Humvee set with the truck bed. Ah, the old Airfix and Hasegawa Shermans! Great little models, even though the Hasegawa one is more like 1/65 scale. I also buil.t both of those along time ago, more than a decade now. I also feel the same way as you do about the shows. I go for the cameraderie, and if by some miracle I actually win, well that's just icing on an already delicious cake! Sometimes for fun I like to take a ton of models to a contest just to show quantity that nobody expects! Did you know that I hold the record for the most models entered in a Nationals? I love people's reactions when they hear how many models I brought!! B) Dave, I loook forward to seeing your work done too. Meanwhile, it's off to work and then afterward I'll post pics of my latest progress again.

Thanks guys! I apologize for not responding sooner. It seems my E-mail notifications of replies wasn't making it to my E-mail box. Ed, thanks for the heads up on the superscale decals. I'll keep them in mind for future builds. Meanwhile I have several spares in my decal stash that I can use up. And yes, they are obscure companies and the molding quality and detail level shows it. Oh and Mike, the other seven fingers were working on my armor that you see in the armor forum. Thanks again for the great replies.

Hello all. I managed to finish two of my three aircraft I've been working on. They are not award winners, but hey, I had fun with them and I think they look good enough. That's the name of the game ain't it? Feel free to check out my first models of 2009. Before that though, here is my Sabre Dog that still needs some work. I discovered that I still needed to add some red to the Sabre Dog's tail. So, I painted on some red in the rough shape I needed. Then after it was dry, I masked everything off and shot another coat over her. One of the main landing gear fell off so I just left it off until the paint dries and masks are removed. Here she is with her new coat of aluminum: Now on to the finished models. This first one is from a company called Flugzeug-Modelkasten and is the 1/72 scale Sukhoi Su-7 BKL Fitter. Yesterday the nose probe broke off and disappeared, so when I find it again, or craft a replacement I'll add it back on. For now though, this one is finished. Yeah, this is my F-100 Super Sabre from Pioneer in 1/72 scale done up in natural metal finish and including a sharkmouth: I kind of get the feeling these decals were supposed to be used for a camouflaged bird, given how small and sparse the decals are. I wanted to make this a NMF bird instead so I went with what I had. Maybe I'll go through my spare decals and see if there are any other stripes or other 'decorations' I can add to it. Well, there they are: my first finished models for 2009. In a few more days I expect to have several new pieces of armor to add to this list of finished models. Thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.

Well, I'm hoping people are still following this Thread here. I guess my "Braille" stuff is too small to see well enough to comment on! Oh well, I'm still posting it anyway... Lately I've been feeling much better from the flu I've been fighting and now I managed to get a little progress done. Not as much as I like, but at least I can show the one model ready for clearcoat and decals, and the other three that are ready for camo patterns. This is the Academy Stryker ready for decals: Once I get the decals done, I'll add on the detail parts like the light shields, tools and machine gun. These next three are ready for the camo patterns to go on. Here is my ABM 42 Sahariana first: She's coming along well, along with the two Revell Humvees. They look better now with the basecoat on: Well that's about all the progress I've gotten done so far. Feel free to check out the aircraft Forums for my first finished models of 2009. Thanks all for looking and comments are welcome.

Thanks guys. I'll get right on these then. Pretty soon I'l have another three models finished. Dreamsof51, go for it!! You want to see more progress, I have it showing in the Armor Forum too. Haven't been getting much in the way of comments there though but that's cool. It seems these aircraft Forums are more busy than the Armor ones anyway. Okay, now everyone go build something!! -
2008 Warwheels.net Hobby Product Awards Announced
Mark Deliduka replied to Warwheels's topic in Armor
Excellent! I know that on the Missing Lynx Braille Scale Forums I never saw an announcement. That isn't to say that it wasn't posted, I just never saw it. I think you'll get quite a response from them this coming year. There are alot of guys on that board and they are all very vocal so you should get a great response. Thanks again, this is a fantastic thing you're doing. -
Well, I also got a lot more progress done on my armor here too, in addition to the aircraft I've been working on. If this is an indicator of how I feel, then I'm getting real healthy real fast! here is my latest progress on what I'm building there. Just about all my work was done on my Humvees I've had started. I also did a little painting on the ABM 42 Sahariana, but not enough to justify pics. So, here are my Humvees. These are the two Dragon Humvees with TOW missile launchers. I have the interiors done so far and I'm ready to assemble the cabs: I was looking through the box and found out that Dragon included two additional TOW launchers with tripods along with the ones that are mounted on the roof of these two. Sweet!! Here are my Revell Humvees. They were tough to get lined up right, and get all the wheels on the ground, but I think so far I have them looking right. This one is the TOW launcher: Yeah, I got the gaps filled already. Man, what a mess!! Here's the Ambulance Humvee here: I still have to fix the front grill add-on piece as it looks crooked when viewed from the front. This one is pretty messy too! Man, I can't wait to get some basecoat laid!! Well, that's all for now, I'll get more pics posted later when I get more done. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Also feel free to stop into the Aircraft forum as well to see my latest progress on my 1/72 scale Aircraft.

The Duke's Aircraft Of 2009 Updated 2-18-09

Gil, thanks for the suggestions. I had a Kustom Kolors rattle can of 'base white' that I used on the F-4, but it may have been too old or something. My coat of white cracked all over badly, so I'm in the process of stripping it now to re-shoot. Meanwhile, I have three other planes ready for decals. I got that RF-4 coated in oven cleaner to strip it down. I'll check on it later today. Meanwhile, I also got a lot more progress done on my other three planes. If this is an indicator of how I feel, then I'm getting real healthy real fast! First off, I'll show my three planes I have ready for decals: My 1/72 scale F-100: My 1/72 scale Su-7: My 1/72 scale F-86D Sabre Dog: Now, I have a question. These are all coated in Alclad. It's the first time I've ever used Alclad. So, before I apply the decals, do I clearcoat these first? Or will the decals stick to the Alclad? Thanks for any help. Also, thanks for looking and all comments are welcome. Feel free to stop into the Armor forum as well to see my latest progress on my 1/72 scale Armor. -
Well, to be honest, I don't know too many hobby shops in those particular areas. I only know of Gibson's (?) Hobby Shop in Burbank, but I don't remember how to get there. I'm not even sure of the name, I do know it starts with a 'G'. My apologies. I do know of at least five hobby shops around my area though, but based on your directions they'd all be too far. Hopefully someone from that part of town will be able to fill you in more. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I haven't been feeling well these past couple of weeks so I haven't done much progress yet on any of the models I started this year. However, since I've been feeling a little better lately, I've slowly made some progress on some of my models. First off I got the RF 4 Phantom that I'm doing for the LEM Forums "From Axis to Allies" Group Build finally sanded, canopy installed and all clear parts masked, and ready for the first coat of paint: Now the instructions say this bird was done up in overall white, but the boxart shows a light grey. I gotta check real pics of this bird to be sure before I paint it. I wasn't too keen on painting a white aircraft, but we'll see. I'll go check so real photos first before going any further. Meanwhile, moving right along, I got some more sanding done on my F-100, so I'll be shooting a new coat of Alclad on it later today. Not enough progress to shoot pics, so I'll just post the pics I have of the other Sabre I'm also working on. This is the Sabre Dog, which now has it's canopy on and all other parts before she gets her first coat of paint. Well, that's all I got for now. I'm gonna go take some more meds now and come back later. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Also, feel free to check out my post in the Armor Forums showing my latest progress on some of my 1/72 scale armor.
-
Now for more pics of my progress in my armor factory. I managed to get a lot of progress done on my AS 42 Sahariana with the anti-tank gun. However, the pics didn't turn out well, so I'll have to shoot more later and then post them. Meanwhile, here are the pics for the Academy M-3 halftrack I'm also doing. This one is almost ready for paint. I should have it ready by the time the painting party I have scheduled with three other friends rolls around. I would have done more, but I'm still fighting this flu. I'll keep you posted as I get more progress done. Thanks for looking, and comments are welcome. Also, feel free to check out my latest progress on my Aircraft in the Aircraft Forum.

2008 Warwheels.net Hobby Product Awards Announced
Mark Deliduka replied to Warwheels's topic in Armor
I don't suppose you would also consider judging 1/72 scale war wheels as well. There are alot more of us 1/72 scale armor builders out there than most people think, but since 1/35th is always so overwhelmingly represented, nobody seems to see us. Still, It would be interesting to see how you would judge the small scale stuff as well. Oh, and now 1/48th scale armor is a growing field as well. Maybe next year's 'wheelies' could consider expanding into judging at least the kits in all three scales. In closing, thank you for posting this. I love seeing a ranking of the best in any field. Keep up the great work. Your research info and historical records are incredibly helpful to builders of all scales. -
I've been trying to find some pics of these as well. I have also been tryi9ng to find more pics of the rest of the German armor sent to Syria so I can model all of them too. Keep us all posted, and I'll try to post some pics that I come across as well.
