At the 1986 Nationals in Sacramento, there was a cartoonish carrier populated with a USN wing of egg planes. USS Eggselsior.

Latest eBay haul. The P-3 is going to be built for a buddy who crewed on them. A BD gift mounted with the VP-46 emblem.

Volume. Because there are fewer modelers, fewer kits are produced. Cost per unit rises, and also remember styrene plastic is a byproduct of petroleum.

"How To Make Your Own Decals" ebook update
Gromit801 replied to ipmsusa2's topic in General Modeling
Could be just in time for a project I have to get done by February. -
I'm doing an early release Hasegawa P-3C for a friend's birthday. He belonged to VP-46 stationed at NAS Moffett back in 1985. I know the birds were in the high viz, white/gray scheme, and I'm looking for decals of the Gray Knights squadron emblem of that era. It was a full color emblem. Any help?

Thanks much! Looks like they both only have Malan's earlier aircraft, without the flag under the windscreen. Hoping to fing the "July 1940" aircraft markings.

Very nice. I love building the old gone by kits, and making them shine. Great job.

I believe they're exhausts. The only good overhead photo I can find seem to indicate exhaust stains emanating at the top rear of the nacelle.

Pactra (killed by Testors), Floquil (killed by Testors), Humbrol, Gunze were/are are go to paints. Never liked Testors.

Recent eBay delivery. Does anyone have a set of instructions for the PBY? The sellers grandson got hold of the originals and cut them up. [/url]

The Vark ought to be interesting. Academy was not happy with the review I did of their FB in the Journal back in the 80's, lol.

Latest eBay haul.

There is that. Nothing is perfect.

Ok, my compressor arrived, and has been used in the garage. It will forever stay in the garage. I may do what a buddy does, and get a tank of nitrogen. Very dry, very quiet, and lasts a fair long time.

I recommend using denatured alcohol to thin acrylic paints.

Who's Kim? lol

I miss Gunze Sanyo huge. Good color selection, easy to use, sigh.

Let us know hot that compressor works. I bought one for garage use (not arrived yet), and am curious how it'll work with an air brush.

Modeling on the road; what you can & can't fly with
Gromit801 replied to templarwd's topic in General Modeling
I remember bringing my entire tool kit with my to the Dayton convention years ago. I know that's so not happening now. -
You can only do your best on preplanning. Otherwise no one gets kit built.

I wish Tamiya would continue the line, with some of the great classics of the past, in 1/12 scale. Porsche 917K Porsche 917-30 Ford GT40 (1969) McLaren M8D Chaparral 2E Ferrari 156 BRM P56 Brabham BT19 Matra MS80 Tyrrell 005 Hesketh 308 Williams FW07B Brabham BT49 or 52 Oh I could go on and on.

Latest eBay haul. Sense a pattern?

Rich, HOBBY SHOPS are hard to find. I grew up in Sacramento with a choice of eight well stocked hobby shops. Now there's maybe one. There's none in Stockton where I live now. So I'd have to drive up to Sacramento, or over to the Bay Area, or even 30 miles to Oakdale of all places. Now it's a case of thorough preplanning, makes sure I have when I need before starting the kit.
