Anyone who has registered for the national convention or who still plans to, who have NOT bought a banquet ticket, please note the last day to purchase a banquet ticket will be Sunday 27 July 2014. No ticket sales will be offered after this date and there will be no tickets sold at the door or at the convention registration desk once the doors open on 6 August. We have contracted for special catering requirements to allow for more than two meal options which require us to lock these numbers down well in advance in order to allow the caterer to plan for and prepare the meals. Please don’t delay, purchase your banquets tickets before it’s too late.

The National Convention in Hampton VA is less than 45 days away. If you’re planning to go but haven’t made hotel arrangements please note that all unsold hotel rooms for the convention will be returned on 5 July. That means the negotiated hotel convention rate for each hotel will also expire after that date. In addition, the cut off for ticket sales the welcome social and BBQ dinner is 15 July.

Rick, that is our hope as well, but so far, I have to say ticket sales for the Wounded Warrior event and tour ticket sales in general have not been that great. I know it is still early, but there will be a time in the near future where we will have to make a "go/no-go" decision about the Wounded Warrior event in particular.

It’s now 110 days and counting until we open the doors on the 2014 Nation Convention and hotels are selling out. The good news is we still have plenty of rooms available at both the $129 and $59 price points. Here is the current status of our six convention properties. Embassy Suites, Marriott Courtyard and Hilton Garden Inn are sold out. Days Inn and Red Roof are both about 50% booked while Springhill Suites, has about 75% of their rooms still available. We had some problems with the web link for Springhill Suites, but this that has recently been fixed. The new link for this property is: Book your group rate: IPMS >> A reminder… reservations at any convention property must be made before 1 July to ensure you receive the convention rate. After that date all excess room inventory after that date must be returned to the respective hotels and receiving the convention rate cannot be guaranteed. So if you know you’re coming and haven’t booked a room, please do so soon. And by the same token if you know your plans have changed and you can’t come but have a reservation at one of the hotels, please cancel your reservation so another person can use it before the 3 July cut-off. The numbers are posted on the lodging page but are: 1 (757) 310-6333 or toll free at 1 (888) 236-2427. Remember to make sure you get the IPMS Group rate of $129+tax/night. Robert Yes, given this is the 50th anniversary convention, our planning team felt it important to try and accommodate as many modelling subject areas as we could (within costs, licensing constraints etc). While we are still finalizing the sheet, and seeking sponsorship, registrants will see more than a single subject on the convention sheet. Hope that helps

Gene The closest airport to the hotel and venue is Patrick Henry (PHF). Because Hampton is serviced by two airports and given the miriad carriers and arrival times it was impossible to provide a show-sponsored shuttle or transportation service. That said, all I can recommend is ride-sharing... maybe post here on the forums for someone in a similar position who may want to split the fare. Tom Jett

If you're planning on reserving a room for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Convention in Hampton VA this Aug, please note the following... for Red Roof Inn Hotel only...You must make your reservation directly with the Hampton Property (757-838-1870) or through their 800 number (1-800-Redroof). The link on our convention web page will not get you the convention rate as we'd been led to believe. Please use the following group code when making the reservations IMPS2014 ... yes the M&P are transposed ... this is unfortuately how Red Roof entered it into their system. I have confirmed that all existing reservations are at the convention rate of $59.99 + tax. If anyone has made a reservation at the Hampton Red Roof and has a higher rate, please let me know directly, please include your confirmation number. Please note. All reservations must be made No Later Than 1 July 2014 to get the convention rate... after 1 July it will be at the normal seasonal rate. A change to the Lodging tab on our web page will follow. Rusty, it looks like you are looking a year too early. The 7th is on a Wednesday this year. In 2014, the 6th is a Wednesday. Yeah, caught that (duh). I have already purchased a vendor table and made reservations. HOWEVER, if you guys plan on staying in the Embassy, rooms are scarce. I couldn't find four room nights there, so after the reservationist tried to assign me to the (very nice lady) Hilton, settled for the Days Inn at a pretty good price. However, the Days in got me in Thurs and Friday at $69.00, but for Sat. I was charged $92.00, so be aware the weekends cost more. This will be the first convention I have been able to attend for some time due to caring for an elderly mother in law. I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

All The block of 250 rooms at the Embassy Suites is in fact fully booked. We are working to add a few more rooms subject to hotel availability. Please remember we have other first class properties ... most within a short walk or drive from the convention center. Parking at the convention center is free. An update to the lodging page will follow shortly. Also I just learend there has been a delay loading our blocked rooms at both the Hilton Garden Inn and the Springhill Suites. These rooms should be open and available for reservation on/after Thursday 12 Sept. We continue to work diligently with Hotel Managers, but are at their mercy when it comes to how quickly they take action on their end. Mark, We haven't disussed that yet but the answer is likely to be no, however I will ask the question. Our cut off date to return any rooms not booked is 1 July 2014, however that is not likely as reservations at Embassy Suites have been very brisk thus far. If we should sell out of our block earlier than expected we may be able to negotiate additional rooms subject to availability at Embassy Suites. Don't forget we have several other very nice hotels within a short walk of the convention center at $129 or less. All the info and direct links tothe hotels is on the lodging page of the websire.
