I appreciate everyone’s comments. The Awards Show ran faster than anyone thought it would and that impacted that the folks who were planning to watch the simulcast. Next year at Ft Wayne there will not be a banquet. They don’t have a facility to support a banquet. The Awards show will be in a beautiful theater. We still don’t plan on spending four hours reading the winners of 225 plus categories. This is going to be a work in progress as we learn the best way to present the winners in a reasonable time. Sorry some of you were disappointed in the way the Awards Show was run. Some of you always will be. Based on all the feedback I have received, you are not in the majority. Bill and Aris did a great job with less than 200 categories for a number of years with a show that generally lasted four hours or longer. Most still complained the show ran too long every year, and nobody did anything to fix it. Currently there are 225 regular categories. That number is likely to increase next year. Something needed to be done about the Marathon Awards Show. San Marcos used slides over dinner in 2023 and it worked well. In 2025 we knew we had to put a fix into the Awards Show to get it organized and finished a timely manner. We concluded there was no way to read 225 categories, no matter who was reading, and finish the show in a timely manner. We choose showing the slides over dinner. The plan was to show the slides twice, but everyone was finished eating, so they only ran once. Not sure if the slides ran long or dinner ran fast. We also for the first time I know wrote a script. Everyone who had a speaking roll had written remarks that we walked through prior to the show. FYI, we did cut back on the amount of time we spent thanking everyone, but understand, these folks have put two years of their life into a convention for IPMS and deserve some recognition. The result was an organized show that was completed in two hours. By the time everyone had picked up their models, the slide show was posted online in multiple places so everyone could see who won. Even then, we had people pounding on the Contest Room doors and yelling at volunteers demanding their models. I can't see where we are going back to a four hour show where we announce all the winners. We have received a lot more positive feedback than negative. That doesn't mean we are not looking to improve in 2026 and make some changes to make it easier for people to see the winners. We are always doing our best to improve the convention experience. That does not mean we are going to please everyone. We look at all the feedback and try to create the best convention we can. Scott Hackney 2nd Vice President, IPMS/USA

Let's not ahead of ourselves or too excited. Yes there were some people who called the hotel directly and got rooms. It was a misunderstanding by the reservation staff. The convention staff worked with the hotel so it will not happen again. The hotel also moved the reservations out of our block and changed their rate from the convention rate, to full price. They cannot get their rates reduced on these reservations. So, to summarize, the members who tried to bypass the system and get in early have been caught and dealt with. I applaud the convention staff for staying on top of this and getting a solution that does not reward those who think they should get in ahead of the rest of us. We are continuing to work with our hotels to make sure nobody gets in through a loop hole. Realize there are only 250 rooms in the attached hotel, so many of you will be staying at other places. The convention center has 3,500 free parking places so everyone will have easy access all day long. Scott Hackney 2nd VP, IPMS/USA

Hi Gil, I’ll check and see how current my updates are. I’m better at Facebook then some of the other sites. When I talked to hotel last week they told me they had very few cancellations and the block was still essentially full. I did see someone on Facebook who got into the Marriott, but it’s a day by day thing. The SAC Museum is sold out and marked that way on the IPMS Registration page. I’ll update the individual SAC page on our website. We have had a few cancellations for SAC, but they have filled right back up.

James, the link takes you to the membership page. On the blue bar over to the right you should see convention registration and trophy sponsorship. It threw me off just a bit that it didn't take straight to a registration page. I think they want us to see both registration and trophy sponsorship. Click on registration and you'll be in. The two attached hotels continue to be full. The Hampton Inn across the street is not offering a rate. The Comfort Suites room block is also full. That does not mean that Omaha is out of hotels. The room block is gone. There were still a handful of Thursday-Saturday rooms. Plenty of rooms in the newly renovated Marriott. There is also a Hampton Inn and a Comfort Suites across the street. It’s amazing how quickly it all happened. I understand people who called reservations for the Embassy got the rate early. That’s not the way it was supposed to work and I apologize for that. Embassy is having an issue. The link was fine Wednesday, broke Thursday afternoon. I can get to the the Embassy easy, but the rates are wrong. They are working the problem. I fixed the dead 2017 link to the Hampton Inn
