Vallejo Military Colors

Hi folks,

I'm considering buying the Vallejo Military Colors set to use in brush painting. I would be using it for detail painting (stowage, tools, equipment, ect.) and figure painting. Anyone here have the set? If so, do you like it? Are there any colors not in the set that I should buy?

Thanks

Chuck

I have both German Camo sets and the Allied one as well, plus over a dozen seperate bottles. You might want to get Iraqi sand,as that is supposed to be a very good "wood" colour. I also like the three "rust" colours they have and the "Dark rubber"

Thank you Tim,

I will add those colors to my list, Iraqi Sand is in the kit, but not the rusts or dark rubber.

Any one else with suggestions ? Do I need any of the glazes, varnishes, ect. I have never used Vallejo so can use all the advice I can get.

Thanks

Chuck

Where you going to purchase them from? I was looking last night at one site that sold them but they only sell the kits no individual bottles.

Check out Michigan Toy Soldier Company. They specialize in figures and carry a wide range of Vallejo colors as well as other top brands of paint, brushes, etc. I am not sure how competitive their prices are, especially when you include S & H, but they are worth checking out.

Hope this helps.

Sprue Brothers carries almost the entire Vallejo product line. Model Air, Model Color and Panzer Color - sets and individual bottles. The only thing I've found that they do not carry just yet are the new Model Air RLM colors (set RLM III I believe). I use their Model Color products for all my brush painting. Best thing since sliced bread! :smiley20:

Is this the same company? If so, I'd hesitate to order from there online. http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/26615971/index.html

WOW Rob...1st I heard of that story. I have always had a good experience with the place, but yes I can see how one would be hesitant to order online.

Also, Vallejo is very delicate so before you put a wash, dry-brush, add decals, etc., you need to put an over-coat on it, I use Testors Glosscoat. I have a bottle of their thinne, but rarely use it. To clean my brushes, I use laquer thinner and it works well. To thin it for airbrushing, just add water.

Follow up to this OT story, the owner will get some jail time, but overall seems like a light sentence for the amount of money stolen. From this news report, it seems like the famous guy wasn't the only victim, just the one with the largest credit line. http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/26735776/index.html
