Chris Bucholtz Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 This is "Sammy" Allard's No. 85 Squadron Hurricane Mk. I in France in the spring of 1940. The Airfix kit is quite nice if you put a little effort into it. The wheels are from Barracuda Studios, the early-style exhausts are from Quickboost, and the decals are from Xtradecals (except for the serials, which I made myself because the font on the decal sheet was totally spurious). The model is lightly weathered with oils - thanks to Steve Husted for the inspiration and instruction (via video!). 1
Ron Bell Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Very nicely done. The "Hurrie" is one of my favorite a/c. You didn't mention it, but I assume this is the 1/72 scale kit and not the 1/48. I've done several of the 72 ones with both wings and it is a very nice little kit and great value for money.
ghodges Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 Agreed..... heck of a nice Hurricane and very nicely presented! Gil
Chris Bucholtz Posted August 23, 2025 Author Report Posted August 23, 2025 "You didn't mention it, but I assume this is the 1/72 scale kit..." Oops! Yes, 1:72. As always. I am a scale bigot when it comes to planes!
Mark Deliduka Posted August 23, 2025 Report Posted August 23, 2025 As am I. Excellent work on this bird!
