Here's my second old Aurora knight kit. This one is the Black Knight of Nuremburg. This was an old release and came with the full Aurora catelogue on the back of the instructions. Fun to look at. It also had a white feather for the helmet plume but it must have come from a sick chicken or something or other as it was pretty misshapen and unusable. I'll pick up something at a craft store as a substitute. A large part of the work involved is clean up and checking fit as there are lots of angles and odd shapes to accommodate. He comes with a mace that is supposed to go in his left hand, but since that hand is in an open position, it doesn't look right so I left it off. Now, on to Atlantis' re-release of the Blue Knight.

Well done! I've got the four Knights "on guard" in my War Room.

I'm guessing you're missing the Golden Knight of Nice? For years it was a "Holy Grail" item for collectors.

Excellent build Ron! I have to ask how you did the decorative gold on the armor.... dry brush? Fine tipped brush and a steady hand? Or another way? Looks quite the part regardless of your method!

The gold was done with a gold colored pencil, but I learned a few things. One is that these pencils work best on a dull surface and mine was shiny and smooth. There's less 'tooth' for the pencil so you can get spotty results. Second, there several types of colored pencils, wax based, chalk based and like a regular pencil based. What you use depends on the results you desire. This was a wax based pencil, but I think the regular pencil would have been better. As it was, I needed to go over some areas with gold dry brushing.

Wow! After all these years I was never aware of a Golden Knight!

Well done, I remember building a couple of these when I was a kid and probably never dreamed they could be made to look so good.

Nope...while I have a very vague memory of such a kit I could not say with certainty that I ever saw the kit on a shelf.....but then I lived in Guam when the kit first came out....then moved to an Air Force base in the frozen tundra of Montana.

I'm quite happy with the black, blue, silver and red knights in my display case.
