bomalley Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 I am working on a model of the new GT2 Corvette based on some early spy photos. The model will be a combination of Revell's C6-R and Z06 kits and involves lots of body work. I have spent 60 hours on it so far (ok- I'm slow) and hope to have it ready for the IPMS convention in August. The actual GT2 will be unveiled at Mid-Ohio in August and I will be there to photograph it.
TimDarrah Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 I can't wait to see the real car on TV and your kit on the tables in Columbus. Good luck and keep on updating us with your project.
JayMesawitz Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Welcome to the forum. This looks great. I can't see a single sign of body work. Impressive! I'd like to see more in-progress shots and definitely the completed project when your done. Best of luck meeting the deadline.
bomalley Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 I've completed the interior (except for the things I don't know are forgotten) and have started the finishing touches on the body. http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/bo...terior_0012.jpg http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/bo...terior_0001.jpg
TimHortman Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Nice work! I'm looking forward to the finished project!
bomalley Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 The model is now complete. I will full documentation on the build at the IPMS National Convention. Bill O.
JayMesawitz Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Pretty menacing machine. Nice job and you met the deadline. I don't know that my McLaren (current project) is going to make it to the show at it's current pace. A deadline doesn't seem to motivate me at the build desk the way it does at work. Could have something to do with being a hobby ! ? Thanks for sharing, best of luck in competition and again, welcome to the forum.

Thanks! - I'm recently retired so my hobbies get much more time - but the cabinet is still full of models to build.
TimHortman Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Nice work! Thanks for sharing! I hope I can make the show to see it in person
Ralph Nardone Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Sweet! Nice work. Has anyone boiled down the differences between the Riley GT-2 'Vettes and the Pratt and Miller GT-2 'Vettes? Is the ALMS and IMSA going to homologate both, or have they told the teams that they need to get the P&M chassis? I know one GT-2 'Vette team got horked--they were running Riley chassis and were told that they'd have to switch.... Ralph

Sounds like they haven't resolved if both riley and P&M will be homologated. See the thread on Lou's car on the Corvette Forum: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/autocrossi...ild-thread.html
