Here are some pictures of the new 1/48th Airfix Lynx. The detail is really fantastic on this kit with raised rivets and recessed panel lines. Details pop out and the fit is tight. There are three different vesions you can make with the kit along with options of interiors, weapons and folded rotors and tail. The instruction shhet is a bit busy in trying to explain what holes to open and what options to add for each of the variants. Re-read them more than once to feel comfortable in your selection to build.

The only problem to come up so far was when I wanted to close up the fuselage. There are lower windows to attach to the nose section and they had to be places inside before closing it up. Well, here goes my clear parts problems again...I was going to add them in until I looked at the clear sprue and one of the windows was a short shot. No window at all, just a little blob of clear plastic on each side of the sprue gates. I sent off an E-mail to Airfix customer service and told them of the problem. They sent me a reply that stated it may take up to 8 weeks to get the part. I put the kit away and started a Brit Phantom in the mean time. It was only three weeks when the parts showed up (last Tuesday). I put the windows in this morning and closed up the fuselage. The fit here is very tight and you must be very careful in attaching some of the interior parts so the the fuselage halves close up tight. This is where I will you for now as I am waiting for the glue to dry.

This is a great little kit. If you ar into helicopters, I highly reccomend it (just check the clear parts).

Great looking interior! That wash really makes the quilting "pop"! Is the main panel painted pe, decal, or just really good paint work by you? If you painted it, what blue did you use for the displays? Look forward to seeing more progress.

Thanks Gil. The panel is a decal with drops of "Future" for the glass areas in the instruments. It looks pretty convincing that way.

That is sweet! I love helicopters and I do hope that they shrink this and their Merlin down to 1/72 scale. I would love to have them in my collection.

Weekday update. The fuselage is together, seams filled, windows fitted and taped. After all of that, I even got a coat of paint on her; MM Enamel Medium Sea Gray. The main rotors have been also been painted MM dark Green with the leading edges taped and painted MM Jet Exhaust. This color was painted on instead of using decals that were in the kit. No decal seams to match up or get all balled up. A side note on the decals, they are done by Cartograph and are very nice. The Sea Skua missiles have their noses painted and are waiting a coat of Dark Sea Gray for the bodies. Next up is a gloss coat and getting the wheels on. After that, it's all about detail painting. Tail rotor painting tonight. Build is about 90% done. Great kit.

More picture to come. Thanks for looking again.
