"Hate" is not the word that came to mind scarface. -
Well, the story behind the Monty nicknames is that Dick was convinced that a 4 footer was stalking him at the Louisiana visitors' center. Of course, he was hold a sandwich at the time and these gators are well fed by the tourist. But the pastey white one is convinced that he was going to be gator food.

Well, I've been away from the bench for almost a year with remodeling the mobile home we bought Thanksgiving of last year. Being very close to finishing and just waiting on paydays to get the material I need to finish, I dusted off the modeling tools and started a simple little build, the Soviet ballisitc sub Red October. I wanted to build her as she was in the scene when they were getting the crew to abandon ship. Using rough watercolor paper as my starting point, I alternated layers of color and gloss heavy gel medium until I got the look I wanted and then made a rough sea by stippling a thick layer of gel medium with a 3/8" deer foot brush. I did have to make some changes to the kit, enlarging the bridge and adding the sonar array to the rear fin. Next up was making the life rafts. I twisted wire solder around a hex bit, glued two rings together and then glued that on tissue paper for the bottom. After giving the model a coat of Future for that rain dampened look, I glued the life rafts on the sub. That brings you up to today. We've all been sick, so I haven't been able to do much. I did start work on painting the crew. Life vest first.

PRETTY!? I just spit water on my monitor! -
Dick's can also be Lunch of the Gator or Pastey White Boy.

I've recently bought Tamiya's 1/48 8th Air Force Mustang and the Aeromaster Green Nose Mustangs sheet with the Louisiana Heat Wave markings.

Here you go Chris...

That's the plan Ron.

I'm in with Trumpeter's 1/700 WWI HMS Warspite.
-
Midship's Ward is 1/700 scale. I built her on her famous patrol on 7 December.
-
I'd love a plastic Agincourt.
-
I would love to see more 1/700 WWI dreadnaughts in plastic. Combrig has the market cornered in resin. There is something beautiful about the uncluttered deck of a British ship of the line.

Disney Vacation vs. Model Contest
KennyLoup replied to John Heck's topic in About the IPMS/USA National Convention
We've got everything planned, Nats during the day and Disney at night. Disney has been wonderful when asked about what we would need for our son who is special needs. As far as food goes, if you ask, Disney will put a microwave in your room at no charge. Of course, we've had help planning our trip as my older brothers and sisters are all professionals when it comes to going to WDW. -

A Japanese vignette with the pilots on the deck at the Eastern Solomons battle.
-
Lee, the flight deck is scratch built.
-
Ed, the figures are painted with Vallejo and Citadel paints. And no, they are not repositioned. The only thing I did to them was to print my own maps.
-
Beautiful work. I love the old gunfighter.

Here's my latest build using Tamiya's 1/48 USN pilot set.

Hey Lee. A laptop is a must have for me. I bring it to model contest along with a small vinyl cutter and I can cut custom paint masks on site. The stash is outside in a storage building.

Nice looking hobby rooms guys! Here's my little piece of heaven. Of course this photo was taken with the desk in business mode. When it's time to build, I have a small work station that I made that I build on. My previous hobby room as well as the house was taken from us by hurricanes Rita and Ike as well as a couple of con artist that got our disaster relief money.
