Thanks to some good friends (yes, I do have them!!) I was able to get these things, one was a raffle prize, the other was some things a friend was getting rid of. First the prize: A magnificent book that will tell you just about anything you want to know about the Italian Air Force in WWII. Man, I have an even higher respect for them now after reading this: The next thing (or things) I got were these three LED light strips powered by 9-volt batteries and are turned on by a magnet: These went inside my church I've been building for awhile, now the stained glass windows can be seen when these are on. Finally, the last three birthday purchases came in: Okay, that's all I got for now, time to prepare for another tour.....

I'm trying to track down a Vac-Form 1/48 scale kit of a B-47. At one time, it was available through Sanger Engineering in the UK. Also, might be associated with a gentleman named Gerald Elliott. Last year, I was briefly in email communication with Mr. Elliott but have now lost contact, and Sanger is not responding to emails. If anyone has knowledge of this kit and/or Sanger Engineering, I would appreciate any information. Thank you! Larry

I just learned this about four months ago, Ron. It's very helpful for getting clothes on figures to not be glossy. I probably saw this tip in the same place you did!

I have always liked Tester's Dullcoat, but sometimes it dries to a semi-matte rather than a dead flat finish. I recently read on-line another modeler say that he lets a bottle of Tester's Dullcoat sit until the "flattening agent" (you know what I mean, all that 'stuff' that gathers at the bottom of the bottle) settles to the bottom. Then he draws/pours off a quantity of the solvent. This increases the concentration of the flattening agent and depending on how much you draw off, the finish that can vary all the way up to dead flat. I decided to give this a try. I took a new bottle of Dullcoat which had settled completely and poured off about 1/3 to 1/2 of the carrier/solvent. I was a bit afraid that it might be spotty or have flecks of flattening agent in the finish so I tested it on a scrap piece of plastic with a flat paint on one side and a high gloss black on the other. i thinned the Dullcoat as normal for my airbrush and gave each finish a coat. The matte finish was still matte, no surprise. But the high gloss dried to a DEAD FLAT and there was no flaking or spotting on either finish. I then tried it on my current project that had gloss and matte surfaces plus decals and I got an even dead flat finish over all. 60 some odd years of modeling and I am still learning.

3 very mundane pics...... But they show a very MAJOR step forward in that the fuselage halves are together and the first coat of primer applied! It even sort of resembles an aircraft fuselage! The next steps are to finish applying most of the features that still need to be added to the fuselage, or at least get their areas ready. These are things like the the platform between the pilot and gunner's cockpits, tail plane brace brackets, elevator and rudder control wire holes, the reinforcing strip around the nose, making the windshields, tail wheel socket, etc. It doesn't look like much, but you can see how much work was needed JUST to make this step possible if you glance back to the beginning. Hopefully I'll make progress at a little better rate from here to the end. Gil

Found it! Pretty cool. And your scratch-built depiction is spot on. And just in time, too. It looks like Aosima is going to release versions in 1/72 AND 1/48. Way to stay ahead of the curve!

Reviewer’s Comments: TankCraft 46, Panther Medium Tank, German Army, Waffen-SS and Luftwaffe Units, Eastern Front, 1944 details the Panther tank, officially the Panzerkampfwagen V Panther (Pz. Kpfw. V, Sd. Kfz. (Sonderkraftfahrzeug) 171, during the largely defensive battles on the Eastern Front during 1944. As the author states in the Introduction, “At the beginning of 1944, the German armies in the East had lost much of the territory that they had overrun in the spectacular advances of 1941 and 1942. In the north, Leningrad was still surrounded but was being resupplied, and the city was no longer under any serious threat. Most of modern-day Ukraine east of the Dnipro River was now in Soviet hands and in the south the Red Army had occupied the Perekop Isthmus, cutting off Generaloberst Erwin Janecke’s 17. Armee in Crimea. View the full review

War in Ukraine, Volume 9: Soviet-Designed Artillery Systems, 2014–2024 by Wen Jian Chung is a highly focused and informative entry in the Europe @ War series, offering a detailed look at one of the most important elements of the ongoing conflict, Artillery Systems. Chung does an excellent job breaking down the development, deployment, and battlefield use of Soviet-designed systems still in operation today. The text strikes a solid balance between technical detail and operational context, making it accessible without losing depth. It’s particularly valuable for readers interested in how legacy systems have been adapted and employed in a modern, high-intensity conflict. View the full review

The Yugoslav Air Force in the Battles for Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina 1991–1992, Volume 2 by Aleksandar Radić is an excellent addition to any aviation or modern military history collection, especially for those with an interest in the Balkan conflicts of the early 1990s. Radić does a strong job of combining operational history with detailed insight into the aircraft, units, and missions that defined this complex period. The narrative is clear and well-structured, giving enough political and military context without overwhelming the reader, while still maintaining a strong focus on aviation. View the full review

MikeOberholtzer started following IPMS Store not letting me sign in
-
Rocky, Are you trying to login to myipmsusa.org? The store itself doesn't require a login, but it certainly helps to be logged in to myipmsusa.org so the system can pre-fill your information. Your login for myipmsusa.org is different than your Forum login, unless you have made them the same. I see you last logged into myipmsusa.org on March 1, so your login should be fine. I've checked the site and store and everything is working. If you need any help getting in, please email me at treasurer@ipmsusa.org or call me at 708-712-2322. Thanks, Mike Mike Oberholtzer Treasurer, IPMS/USA

I just tried singing into the IPMS store several times, but it keeps saying my username or password is incorrect, which it isn't. I even went to my back up list to make sure I had my information correct. Just curious if anyone else is having trouble or if there is a issue going on with the store. Thanks Rocky
