After seeing ads in modeling magazines for IPMS for the past 35 years, I have finally joined. I started plastic modeling as a kid, building all sorts of things, ships, planes, cars, etc. In my late teens I settled on WWII AFV's with a definite lean toward German tanks especially 1939-1942 early war models. I've tried my had at plank on frame shipbuilding and completed a kit of the tug SEGUIN (incl. R/C) back in 1986. At the present I would describe my self as a desultory modeler. It takes me forever nowadays to complete anything. Two years ago I built the old Italeri 155mm Howitzer, just for practice, and right now I have spent the last year off and on working on the Trumpeter KARL mortar. I finally have it painted, washed, and some initial dry-brushing done, still have a ways to go. I guess I really enjoy buying kits more than building building them!

Welcome Paul! From your description, you sound just like everyone else here! I think we all buy more than we build and build slower than we'd like to (and detest the guys who build quickly and only buy what they immediately build :smiley2: ) Post some more pics if you get a chance. For some reason I can't open them this evening. Make yourself at home! Cheers!

Hi Gil,

I'm still trying to figure how to post. I've got some pics of the Italeri 155mm and Karl over at Photobucket that I'd like to post. I'll figure it eventually.

Regards,

Welcome Aboard Paul!

I think you'll need to upload your photos to a webhosting service first (ie photobucket) first, then post the link here.

Use the little button at the top of the message board you type in that looks like a picture. When you click on that, a new window will open that you can paste the link (use the 'direct link' from photobucket) in that box - your image will automatically load on the page when someone opens it.

(There are much better directions somewhere on the site, but I can't find them this morning!)

Welcome Paul. I'm one of those guys Gil mentioned who builds fast. Check out my Maddog Manufacturing Thread to see what he's talking about. :P

Looking forward to seeing your work too. And don't worry. As Gil said, there are lots of guys who build as you do. Just as long as you are having fun, that's all that matters.

Paul,

Welcome to IPMS. As an armour builder it is really nice to see another armour builder on board. As for the kit collecting, well welcome to the club (kit collecting club). We all (Except for MARK- he is just sick) build slow, have and want more kits then we will ever really be able to built in our life time.

Again Welcome,

Chris Graeter
