ghodges Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 (edited) Just finished #13 for this year, the old 1/48 Monogram AV-8B Harrier (early B version), built OOTB except for some Quinta 3D cockpit decals. Did this one quick and dirty just to familiarize myself with the Harrier as I don't build many modern jets. The kit decals shattered on me so I had to substitute some "faux" Blacksheep markings that I won't be using when building the new UMA AV-8B. I also had to home vac a new windscreen as the kit part was cracked. It won't win any prizes, but it suited my purposes! Kit interior with the Quinta placards in place. I used my old Mattel vac machine to make a new windshield after sanding the cracked kit part smooth. And the rest of the pics! On to the next one! Gil Edited October 24, 2025 by ghodges 1
VMF211 Posted September 3, 2025 Report Posted September 3, 2025 Beautiful job Gil!! BTW....is it an A or a B? 1
ghodges Posted September 4, 2025 Author Report Posted September 4, 2025 (edited) That's an early B as far as I know..... the kit dating from the mid 80's before they made all of the mods to the nose that you see on the "B" Harriers you see today. I've changed the title to reflect your catch! Gil Edited October 24, 2025 by ghodges
Boots Posted October 23, 2025 Report Posted October 23, 2025 Great looking build Gil and at quick glance, I would not have known that it was a Monogram offering! Happy Modeling, Mike
BWScholten Posted October 24, 2025 Report Posted October 24, 2025 @ghodges looks like an early B to me. Wing strakes and bubble canopy set it apart from the A-model. Another nice build. Funny, I have this kit and didn't build it because the canopy was cracked. 1
ghodges Posted October 24, 2025 Author Report Posted October 24, 2025 Probably right...... I'll go back and change the title so as not to mislead those even more ignorant than me! 😁 Gil
