tomqvaxy Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 surgical or dental; whatever they are called - i did a search and came up null. i want something better than optivisor of tamiya. any recommendation? about "3x" would be good; currents (above) are 2.5x so i might like to go a little stronger. thanks
Ralph Nardone Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 If you already have an Optivisor, you can either get a different lens or add a loupe... https://doneganoptical.com/product-category/headband/ Cheers! Ralph
nmertes Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 I'm with Ralph. The Donegan Optivisor is a very good choice. I've had 1 for over 40 years with their #7 (2.75X, 6" focal length) lens set. It works very well for modeling.
tomqvaxy Posted December 17, 2021 Author Report Posted December 17, 2021 i have 2 of the 2.5 & a 10x, but am tempted to buy just a lens for experimentation.
PeteJ Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 (edited) When I bought my Optivisor 30 years ago, I was uncertain which lens to get so I bought 4. The #3, #5, #7 and #10. I am glad I did. I started with the 3 and 5 used the most. As I got older I had to move up the scale. I am now use the 7 and 10 the most. I also use my glasses under the visor kind of like a bifocal. Works well for me. New lenses are not ridiculously price for a precision piece of optical equipment. Edited December 17, 2021 by PeteJ
tomqvaxy Posted December 19, 2021 Author Report Posted December 19, 2021 so in the tradition of buying myself a hobby gift for the season, i have a new OptiVISOR DA-7 2.75x (yes, proprietary brand!) on its way to me. i will surely not be waiting until december 25th to open! thanks to all for the inputs & advice.
