I've been working on the 1/32 Monogram CSM with some of RealSpace Models resin stuff. The CM is on hold while I wait for the hatch I ordered to arrive but the interior is in. I've been working on the SM this weekend. Comments are welcome. I hope to have this finished up for the contest in Austin this September.

Look sgood. Are you going to Ohio? If so, think about bringing it and do some 'show & tell' at the space forum meeting. Otherwise, I guess we'll have to talk you into taking it to Phoenix. ;)

Sorry but I can't make it to Ohio on my faculty salary. I'll be bringing it to Austin in Sept and probably to Little Rock after that but Ohio is too far. I do have a couple ships in our club group build that will end up in Ohio this year.

Looking pretty good there! Please post final shots, before it goes to show! :smiley20:

Papasmurf, I've been watching some of your builds for a while now and someday I'll be able to match some of your stuff. Thanks for the comments.

The work you posted on this project looks very promising, so much detailed scratch-built stuff, keep at it!

Nice to hear, you keep up with my humble efforts, thanks for that, much appreciated!

The more you build, the more experience you gather, it's just a matter of time, lots of patience, and a bit of determination.

I went ahead and scribed the chrome plated CM shell. The perimeter of the base is wrapped with Monokote Chrome trim tape. The wrinkes on the underside do not show when the CM is mounted on the SM. I still have to clean up my fingerprints but I thought you'd like to see the progress.

Nice work! You blow us away with your scribing a chrome surface. No slips or scratches? Outstanding details! :smiley32:

That is very impressive indeed. Gives me some ideas for doing Chrome foil on a Warhammer Vehicle.

That's a lot of work!! And, very well executed indeed! :smiley20:

Thanks guys. I actually found it easier to do the scribing than it would have been to lay foil tape onto the surface. There are a few patches here and there when I did slip with the scribing too but I used Dymo label tape attached to the surface to scribe each of the lines. The Dymo adhesive held up to such an extent that I only needed to use two pieces to do the entire scribing job. Much less chance of slips when the guide tape is attached to the model. It works great for panel lines on aircraft too.
