Ron Bell Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Pictures of this neat little vehicle pop up around the internet and I had the privilege to see a couple of them in the York and Duxford air museums in the UK. I think there's an obscure kit of this from someone, but I've never seen it, so when I found this I jumped at it. It's actually an Oxford Die Cast Replica in 1/72 scale. It comes marked in post war civil BP markings, but it's the same vehicle. They were made in several sizes, this one being the 550 gal, variety and with three wheels were very maneuverable in the tight spaces of an airfield or hangar. I disassembled it and stripped the paint off the metal body. The original wheels were toy-like, so I replaced them from the spares box. A little detail painting on the interior, a new paint job on the outside, some decals from the Airfix RAF refueling set and I put it back together. Makes a rather unique entry in my collection. 1
ghodges Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Yet another type I've never heard of! Was the camo typical and because of use on open airfields during the blitz? I'd expect it to be a simple one color scheme as "issued". Nice one Ron! GIL :smiley16:
WildBill50 Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Interesting vehicle and nicely done reworking of what you started with. Great job. Bill
