Mark Deliduka Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Yes! I have finally finished this freakin' model! The white ain't clean, the canopy is not clear, the decals were splattered by overspray from something else, the yellow bled through, and overall there's a ton of additional things that keep this from being anything close to being a contest-worthy model. I ain't gonna be rakin' in the awards with this one! But it is finished and I am proud and relieved. Proud because of what I recovered it from and relieved because it was so much hassle getting it finished! Without further ado, here are the pics: I'll try to get another shot showing the underside of the nose. There's actually camera lenses inside to make it look like cameras. Well, thanks all for looking, comments are welcome.
David M. Knights Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 I love the German special occasion markings. They are some of the best around. Thanks for posting a photo of a model. Happy to see modeling going on.
Mark Deliduka Posted June 18, 2009 Author Report Posted June 18, 2009 You're welcome Dave. I have alot more projects also going on. Check out my two 'In Progress" Threads on the Aircraft and Armor Forums to see more. Thanks for the comments.
Weedeater Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 The Dukinator strikes again! Cool build Mark. As I stated before, this is one of my favorite colorful W. Ger paint schemes. I have the old Revell 1/32 scale kit with these markings in it. If I get it done anytime soon, I'll post a pic or two of it here. I also checked out your cool Badger. It's looking great. Thanks for posting. Model on Brother of the Sprue.
Mark Deliduka Posted June 18, 2009 Author Report Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks Ken! You may not be into Armor, but in addition to these two planes I have several armor models in progress as well. Feel free to check them out. Thanks again for the great reply! Too bad you're so far away, I'd love to meet you at an Orangecon someday.
ghodges Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Outside of the Japanese F-4's, that has to be one of the most colorful Phantoms ever! As for your mentioned problems, I can't see them, but I do understand that relieved feeling of getting one done! Thanks for posting! GIL
Weedeater Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 ........Too bad you're so far away, I'd love to meet you at an Orangecon someday. - Hey Mark, actually, up until 1998 I lived in the SFV for 26 years. I was a member of PMS, Space Park, IPMS/LaHabra AND OC/IPMS. I attended several OrangeCons until I moved, amongst numerous other SoCal contests. I figure that someday I'll coordinate a family visit (still have family in SFV) with an OrangeCon. The only problem is that I also figure that I'm not too welcome there these days, since I have been posting the truth here about a certain club member and his poor performance during and after a certain show. Still, I too hope that our model building adventures cross paths someday. - Hey, do you have any plans on visiting Albuquerque, NM anytime soon? LOL. Model on Sprue Glue-inator.
Mark Deliduka Posted June 19, 2009 Author Report Posted June 19, 2009 Thanks Gil! Yeah, in these pics it looks great! In person the flaws show up fairly well. Oh well, I am still proud of having gotten this built. Most every other modeler would have simply thrown this away after what happened when the paint stripping went wrong. Ken, thanks. Maybe someday we can meet up. As for a certain person's performance, I can honestly say that things weren't as bad as was perceived in that performance. Then again, I am speaking as one who was involved on almost all levels of the event as much as possible, so my view is a bit different. There were many things that happened to give the same perception to many others but that is not for me to discuss. Maybe some day you could come to an Orangecon and possibly in a friendly, polite way find out some more info. Hey, if that don't work, you could always avoid each other. LOL! Once again, thanks for the compliments. I shall indeed keep modeling on!
