Zglossip Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Hey guys i am building a model spitfire and came to the decal stage of building and decided only to put the big main decals on . I was thinking that nobody is going to examine it up close so is this a bad habit
Rusty White Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 As long as you don't "enter" a contest where the rivet counters (judges) can get to it, then build it the way YOU want. It will be fine to display with all the others.
ghodges Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) A model needs all of the important markings on it; those that provide its distinct identty and make it look "authentic" to its time a place. That said, I don't know of anyone who always puts EVERY little stencil on each and every model. You need to think ahead....do you plan to put this model on the table at a contest or club meeting? If you do, it WILL be looked at closely, especially at a contest! HOWEVER, what people will be looking at is the quality of your work, and NOT whether or not it's missing small stencils. BUT, if you leave off something important, like an ID number, or personal artwork; that may be noticed. In the end, you build to make yourself happy! Don't sweat the small stuff, and concentrate on doing good quality decal work (no silvering) on the ones you do apply. Hope this helps! GIL Edited January 26, 2014 by ghodges
