  1. anyone know of a good way to remove chrome plate from plastic, other than scrape or sand?

    MRAP

Disagree - it really depends on the variant, timeframe and who's using it. This one has US Navy markings, operated by a USAF EOD team (with an Army gunner) at an Army base in the 'Stan, c.2007: In Iraq US Army from 2009-2010 did not have the tires. I have over 1000 pictures of them that I took from before and after the draw down. Agree with you on Afganistan, but again dates are important.

    MRAP

I sure hope so! Or maybe it's somebody's sense of humor. NOTE: In response to a similar post on BritModeler, I got a steer toward this site: http://www.sandsmodels.com/ which has both 28mm (1/60) and 20mm (1/76) wargaming miniatures. Could not believe my good luck: THEY DO HAVE BOTH A 4x4 AND A 6x6 JERRV in the 'Modern 20mm' range - HUZZAH - !!! Will mo'debly order up one of these, to see whether I can screw it up by adding some detail. May try to re-do the tires, but the rest of it looks great. Remove the spare wheel for operational trucks.

    MRAP

I haven't heard anything from them about a 6x6 variant. However, they tend to try maximize their molds to do different versions of the vehicles they release so I wouldn't be surprised if they did a 6x6. Thanks for the news!

    MRAP

Out of all the equipment in Iraq and Afgan. I have yet to see any MRAP models out on the market. Is there any word on if these will be produced? http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu218/sumterIII/DSCF0291.jpg
  8. Ron can you feather the edge by sanding? If not try using a little 70% alcohol on a Q-Tip, gently apply to the edge to soften and feather the edge. Then dry brush color back on the area.
  9. 1/400 Russian Aurora Armored Crusier, refit to 1940 for a web group build and 1/72 Revell PT 109 for the club group build.
  10. Thanks for the tips, looks like I will go OOB build for this one. Good practice kit. Thanks again
  11. Do you know of a source for these?
  12. So your saying not to bother with the PE set?
  13. I picked up the 1/35 Italeri jagdpanzer 38(t) hetzer kit at the club raffle last night and found Eduard has a PE set for it. Two questions is it worth buying the PE set and is the Italeri kit an early or late version? I'm not an armor guy so any help would be great. Thanks
  14. Because of the physics, you can't make an Enterprise that can fly through the air or space realistically. It's not aerodynamic and gravity would work against it, so it won't fly in the air like an RC plane or helicopter. Doing it in space is not possible for your average RC modeler. You can, however, make it "fly" fairly realistically in water. NASA trains its astronauts in space walking underwater because of the similarities to operating in space. I've seen some amazing things fly like Snoopy and his dog house, a lawn mower and even the Stealth Fighter 1 to 1 scale, I'm sure someone could make a flying sauser fly too. Given enough trust even a pig would fly lol
  15. The first thing I thought of was how stable it was, better than I would have imagined. The second was how did they do it? Thrusters for control no dive plane no rudder. Engineering wise it was a marvel. If you were to put it in the waters of Silver Springs Fl, where the water is crystal clear you could make a movie and never use costly CGI, just plain old model building like the old days. Now that is cool!
  16. SPC Perry for ‘Boots on the Ground’ as listed on the IPMS website
  17. Some of you may know about this already. Nice study on how well a real version might work in space. Enjoy
  18. Is the POC in Iraq still good? I sent a message to him a week ago but no reply.
  19. And people call me crazy for building 1/700 scale I hope you post pictures when done, that is if you are out of the asylum by then..
  20. Thanks I need to make 1/350 scale 76.2mm gun shields. They are on this link http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNRussian_3-55_m1935.htm
  21. Can anyone tell me what the recommended thickness of a PE sheet would be? Thanks
  22. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it works out.
  23. Gil What is the mix ratio?
  24. Epoxy sounds like an idea, Ive used that before on resin with very good results. Super glue and baby powder???? that's a new one, for this I might need a case of CA though... Thanks
  25. I'm not sure plastic will work, here is a picture so you can have a better idea. I need to form a more round shape on the bottom, as you can see it's concave now. Anyone have any experience with long term bonding of filler or bondo on resin?
