  1. I look forward to Omaha hosting the nats again. At least I hope they do. They have an amazing facility to host the event in with two hotels and a nice restaurant all built in. Plenty of parking. And some fun side trips. They hosted in 2022, and it was a great event.
  2. Overall the National was very well done. Thank you for that. Well done!!! I especially loved how much room there was for models to be displayed, and even more room in the aisles. WOW. Normally the aisles are cramped and it is hard for everyone to move around. This time there was much more room. THANK YOU. I only saw one thing wrong with the model show itself. The motorcycles were stuck off to the side and not very well lit at all. I don't know what happened there. I saw empty tables in the automotive section, and some tables that were empty enough to share with the motorcycles. It just seemed odd. Again, a super minor thing. As far as wrapping things up goes. I believe that all the thanking / praise should be done durring the dinner. Leave it out of the awards process. Honestly all of us that don't bother with the dinner probably don't understand who everyone is, why they are giving or receiving praise, we can't follow the jokes, and all that. NOTE: I don't want this to sound like none of give a crap. Us show goers do. But we just are not part of the inner circle that is the banquet. I also believe that the model rooms should be locked all the way through the awards ceremony. OR those doors should be opened before the ceremony begins so anyone that wants to pack up early can do so. I know you airplane and amor guys don't want to sit through the whole thing, just as much as us car guys don't want to sit through all the awards you guys have. Why should we have to wait until nearly 11 to pack up? Another option would be to do awards in stages. Airplane builders show up for their awards at 6PM, and then they can go. Armor shows up for their awards at 7PM, then they can go, cars can show up at 8PM and so on and so on. This would allow early packing up. And it would not require as much seating space. Just a thought.
  3. The people that put the National Convention together do a lot of work and work with hotels so we have places to stay, so I don't want to cut in here and tell you about ways to save money so please delete this thread if it is out of line. Check out Air BnB for lodging needs when you go to the National Convention. Many times you can rent a whole house for the same price as the rooms that are available. Or if you are a single person looking for a deal, some people rent out a room in their house for super cheap. The main drawback is transportation. You don't get to stay right near the event. Example: 2 years at the Omaha Nationals. I decided to go last minute and I was traveling alone, no time to find roommates. I rented a room at this sweet oldd ladys house for $40 per night. It was like 10 miles from the convention, but the room plus Uber rides and I still saved money. Example: This year some friends and me are renting a house. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights total is $600 for a 3 bedroom house. So $150 per night is getting us a house. We aren't sharing a hallway, or walls with other people. We each get our own bedroom. The only down side is we are not right downtown by the convention. I just wanted to put this out there. I wanted you to know that if the price of the trip is holding you back, there are ways to save money.
  4. Do I need to have the forms for each model printed out when I get to the show next week? If yes, I can go get them printed like at UPS Store or Office Max or whatever. Or can I just download the pdfs to my phone so I can show you the QR codes?
  5. You make a good point about discussing things here to kind of get a feeler for how well things are recieved. Maybe I'll start a thread about it. And like my other reply. I'm not looking for change this year, or possibly even next year. I know changes like this are a process.
  6. Thank you for the contact info. I was not expecting this to be figured out for this year. Or even possibly next year. This was really just to start the discussion.
  7. Who on the board do I talk to about splitting up a class or tow? I don't really want to discuss it here on the board where everyone can chime in. I have some ideas and some data tha would support my ideas. I would just like to connect with whoever has the ability to even talk about changing classes. Thanks
  8. Do these 2023 descriptions apply to the 2024 nationals?
  9. And this is why in my thread about moving models around, I was not upset that the models were moved. I just wanted to make sure they were judged as I displayed them. And then moved. I don't mind if they are moved after they are judged. Just as long as care was taken when they were moved. And since all judges are or were model builders, I trust that care was taken.
  10. My regulator is attached to my compressor. It works most of the time, but on the most humid days it doesn't catch all the water. now I know why. I will be relocating my water trap. Thanks for the info.
  11. Thank you for the replys. Like I said. If the judges judged the models and then moved them to the back afterwards so they could judge other models, that is totally fine. I just wanted to make sure that was the case. I came in the model room Saturday after judging and my models were all moved to the back. And some of them were spun around so they weren't displayed properly. And I just wanted to make sure this happened after they were judged.
  12. Here are my thoughts on compressors. Anyone can make a thing that compresses air into a tank. the only thing we need to be concerned with when airbrushing is that we can control the pressure and remove moisture. So buy the cheapest compressor you can find that has a decent sized tank. Then spend your money on the regulator and water trap, if the compressor doesn't come with them. I have a cheapy Harbor Freight compressor. It came with a regulator. I just added a nice water trap. And it serves me well.

The Rosso Chiaro formula is in the PPG Nexa system, which is how I got it for my car. They formulated it as a two-stage. I remember asking about some other codes but they couldn't find them in the system; not sure which ones, although one was probably Ruby Red. 14. I wasn't aware of any of this. This was only my second Nationals. Thank you for the information though. I wrote Phil an email.
  15. I entered automotive classes this year in San Marcos. I was wondering if I could contact someone that judged the automotive classes. I will say that I thought I entered some really good builds. I am not upset that I didn't win anything. But I do want to learn more about what judges look for. And where I need to improve so I can place better. If you judged automotive classes, please message me your email. Again, I am not upset at all. I just want to learn from a judge where I should make improvements. Thanks
