    The Geisha

Hello Ed, I like the "Lady of the Lake." Vallejos --- If you are getting brush marks, the paint needs to thinned more. For base coating I use W&N Series 7 No. 1 or No. 2. For detail I mostly use W&N Series 7 No. 0, but will go down to 00 on the finest of detail. As you said, if brush is too small it will not hold enough paint and it will dry to quickly. The key is to have a brush with a great point. Ed, thanks for the kind words. If I can answer any questions for you, please don't hesitate to send an Email. ( I was in IL. for the Chicago show MMSI last weekend.) Thanks, Chris Fontenot

    The Geisha

Thanks Jim. I have been working with Vallejos for years and I am used to the consistency. Some parts need two coats. Just takes practice.

  12. I didn't know that. I could never get the "paste" option, so I did the old "Control V" thing. Thanks Eric. I learned something today.
  13. Thanks Guys. The plaid was accomplished by starting with a green ochre and shadowing with a cork brown and highlighting with yellow ochre. Then, to get the lines straight, I use flexible car pin stripes and pencil in the lines for the crossing pattern. Then I painted the striped with a dark grey and darken the crossed lines with German grey. I then highlight and shadow the greys and blacks. Then a final thin strip of German Grey and cork brown. All paints were Vallejo. Then added a couple of very light washes with green ochre and German grey to dull it down. That's it. I have a 54MM highlander that I am going to do in the McLean tartan. I will use the same technique in a much smaller scale. Chris F.
  14. Celtic Vampire - I looked for this figure sculpted by John Rosengrant for three years before Tammy found one for me. I was a lot of fun to paint.
