  6. This book contains 84 pages, 150 b/w photos, 3 color photos, 12 color profiles, 2 B/W maps, and 5 tables. It covers the war between Hungary and Slovakia in 1939. Like WWII, which would begin 162 days later, the origins of this conflict could also trace its beginnings back to WWI and the Treaty of Versailles and specifically the Treaty of Trianon. Hungary wanted to recover territory it had to give up as per the treaty, especially that in Sub-Carpathia. With Germany having seized Czechoslovakia and created the new nation of Slovakia, this seemed the right time to Hungarian officials. The war lasted approximately 12 days which in the end saw Slovakia cede roughly 655 square miles of territory back to Hungary. View the full review

  8. Nice work on this beast Mark! He’s, it’s time for you to do a refresher kit to recharge the mojo. Something that makes the tough build fade from recent memory.
  9. Nicely done Mark! Of course I’m a sucker for any Airborne related subjects, so I’m quite partial to the gliders… 😏
  10. The right front fender is supposed to replicate the cargo bed tarp rolled up and stowed. I used Milliput rolled flat and then rolled to shape like I saw Steve Munsel from Value Gear demonstrate at one of our AMPS meetings here. I see what you mean on the rear corners. I’ll have to pay better attention to that area on the other one of these in my stash when I get around to building it.

  15. A new vendor, DXM Decals from Taiwan, has provided the IPMS-USA reviewer corps with a wonderful waterslide decal set commemorating the JASDF 8th Squadron 60th Anniversary Special Painting of an F-2A “Panther Spots” in 2020. The Anniversary markings are for the following aircraft: F-16C Block 50P, No. 13-8558 (SN 1058) – 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Tsuiki Air Base, Japan.Contents There is one folded color sheet, printed on both sides (8 X 11.5 inches) that shows decal placement. There are three decal sheets which come with a complete set of stencils and the special camouflage scheme. Painting references are for five colors: FS35109, FS36320, Black, Radome Gray, and a Black+5% White mixture. View the full review
  16. This is the first in what is promised to be a new series of aircraft modeling guides, and the chosen subject is the incomparable Avro Vulcan, the best known of Britain’s Cold War “V-Bombers.” Designed for nuclear deterrence but made famous at the end of its career for the “Black Buck” missions against the Argentine invaders in the Falklands War. Author Geoff Coughlin is well known in British aviation modeling circles and is the founder of the scalemodellingnow.com website. A well-established author and aviation historian, he starts the book with a good but necessarily brief history of the type’s development and service, I think that this would have benefited from being longer, but size restrictions clearly came into play. 21. Academy/MRC has released a new boxing of the Rafale M in 1/144th scale. From Scalemates.com, the original molds were created by Revell-AG in 1999. In the BoxThe kit is enclosed in a top-opening box and comes with four gray sprues and one clear. Instructions are well illustrated and easy to follow, and contain 12 steps for assembly. There are four marking options for this kit for the Aeronavale (Naval Air Arm of the French Navy). The markings are as follows: View the full review
  22. Another review of another ICM kit - and I can’t get enough of them! This time I am working on the ICM 48326 Marauder Mk. III in 1:48 scale. As always, another beautifully detailed kit with many pieces. ICM has some of the best detailed aircraft kits around, and they are always a joy to work on. The Marauder is no exception! UnboxingThis is a massive kit with 8 sprues molded in their usual light grey, 2 in clear, and 1 decal sheet. The instructions are just as clear, beautiful, and easy to follow as I have come to expect and look forward to from ICM. They have 3 possible paint schemes to choose from on this one, all with a lighter shade of green on the top of the aircraft and beige on the underside, with decals to match the specific color palettes. 24. I was looking at the center layout and had a couple of questions. Since it is on two levels, what events will be on the ground level and what will be on the second level? I see stairs and an escalator on the plan but do not see an elevator. Is there one for getting between the floors?
  25. TTTTTTTThanks . all this done way before ACCURATE MINIATURE came out with there kits .. Now it's thing of the past !..lol

I would like to invite everyone to our 31. SurgiCon hosted by the IPMS Plastic Surgeons. The theme this year is 'Japan', meaning any Japanese subject. Awards will be giving for the best 3 models in every category, Best of's of major categories, Judges Grand Award and several special awards which will be posted on our website. Our venue is located about 10 minutes from Ames, IA. There are restaurants in Nevada plus much more in Ames. Ames also has an old fashioned Brick and Mortar Model shop called the 'Hobby Shop'. We hope to see you all at our 2027 SurgiCon 31.
  27. You made that old classic shine! Gil
  28. Good looking work and adapting to over come the kit directions. Makes you wonder if the kit engineers actually try to build what they're designing at times! Gil
  29. For the fifth week of the F-35C I worked on the main gear bays and struts. I used the reference photos to add all the lines to the struts. I used different size wire and some scrap photo etch parts. I also added the tie down loop to strut as well. I then used a reference photo to create the placards for the struts. Next I came across an issue. The directions show assembling the main gear and then installing them in to the lower fuselage assembly. The issue is once the wheels are attached you are unable to install them as the wheels and struts together are too wide to fit thru the gear openings. One of the bays I did not install the wheel yet but I did have to remove the other wheel to install it. I ended up pinning this wheel onto the strut. I then went to make sure the landing gear sat correctly and found out the tail hook was too low. I cut the control strut for the tail hook to raise it up a bit. Now all the landing gear and tail hook sit evenly in the ground. Another issue is the instructions have you install the cockpit assembly on to the topside of the nose gear bay. However during a dry-fit check there are no markings as to the exact location to mount it. I decided to mount the cockpit on the upper fuselage instead. I taped it the cockpit assembly in place on the upper fuselage and did another dry fit check. This will work a lot better for the correct alignment. I am now working on the upper fuselage details starting with the refueling probe and upper intake panels. I am hoping to get the fuselage together next week. You can see all the photos and details from the start at: https://davidsscalemodels.com/build-log/1-48-f-35c-vfa-86-sidewinders/
