Dick Montgomery Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 Thanks for loading these images into an album! The images were taken during the Nov 12th Fly-In at Kingsbury, Tx. All of the ground vehicles shown are operational. Throughout the morning some of these vehicles cruise throughout the Kingsbury property and getting a ride isn't all that tough. The D VII is awaiting a new motor but otherwise is flyable. The Dr I is flyable but the wind was beyond the maximum for that aircraft this morning and it didn't leave the ground. The only aircraft pictured that is not flown is the Bleriot. One of the "crew" said that the wing camber is such that the aircraft can't escape "ground effect" so the aircraft remains "static". I was happy to tend a hand rolling out the aircraft early in the day and scenes from "The Blue Max" kept coming to mind. The aircraft are very small and lightweight, and lots of fun to inspect up close and personal. IPMS Alamo Squadron and IPMS Austin shared some table space and set up a display of 1/48 and 1/32 scale aircraft. A good number of visitors walked by and were intrigued by the WWI models on display as well as the P-51s and P-38s that tend to dominate the display tables. Kingsbury is about 50 miles east of San Antonio (just east of Seguin, Tx) and about 7 miles on the north side of Interstate 10. Be sure to check the facility's website and call to make sure of the hours of operation.
