I recently got an Emhar British Mk IV male tank in a lot of 'stuff' I bought. When I opened it, it had been almost completed so I had to decide if it was for the trash or the spares bin. I decided on neither. I opted to make it into a Mk IV supply tank. Most of these were converted older model vehicles or vehicles that were clapped out with all weapons and their ancillary equipment removed with the exception of one MG. At first when they were more or less trial vehicles they just used the existing emptied out sponsons for carrying ammo, rations, sapper equipment and anything else they could cram in there. Later when they had proved their worth, new mild steel sponsons that were roomier were made and eventually several marks of tanks were specifically made for this purpose. Anyhow, I cut out the kit sponsons that were already in place and cleaned up the openings then scratched up a couple of new sponsons. If I do say so myself, they turned out rather well, with the minor exception that they are incorrectly shaped on the bottom. Oh well, right? I pressed on. The fiddliest part of assembly was the very delicate three piece unditching beam rails with no locator points and only vague instructions. And, of course, there were those dreadful Emhar tracks to deal with. I thought about springing for a set of Matador resin replacement tracks as I have used them before and they look a lot better, but given the time and money that would have been involved, I decided against it. In the end it turned out better than I thought it would and is a good addition to my WW I collection.
