davenport49 Posted December 11, 2018 Report Posted December 11, 2018 I'm about to exhaust a bottle of Metalizer Metalic Blue, which has been great for the translucent blue of interior surfaces of Japanese aircraft. I can't find a replacement. Does anyone have a recommendation?
ghodges Posted December 11, 2018 Report Posted December 11, 2018 Check to see if Alclad makes a metallic blue. I know they make several transparent colors that are meant to be used to create heat marks on metallic exhaust pipes, and I thought they had a blue as one of them. If not, you can always fall back on the old method of painting it silver and then over coating it with Tamiya Transparent Blue til you get the hue you like. GIL
kpatterson Posted December 20, 2018 Report Posted December 20, 2018 Alclad does make a transparent blue and green. That's how I always do my Interior on Japanese aircraft. Spray the transparent blue/green over the metallic coat. You will want to mix a little of the transparent green as well to get the correct shade whether its the Alclad or Tamiya colors. I suggest trying out on a piece of scrap before committing to your model to get the shade you're satisfied with. -Ken
Roktman Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 Probably too late, but Vallejo came out with a "Mecha" line. FWIW, they have a bunch of metalized colors.
