Mike Delano Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I Found an interesting artocle on the Round 2 website about Ryan Church - designer of a number of ships from the reimagined Star Trek universe... http://www.round2models.com/articles/church-interview
jcorley Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 One thing I didn't understand was this bit of the interview: I am also quite taken by the gigantic, octopus-like United Federation of Planets satellite/space station. Is that your work as well? That was another Scott Chambliss design. Everybody had taken a stab at the spaceport, then Scott came up with that idea; I did a lot of illustrations of variations on the basic concept. Funny, this one is from the movie: Which I think looks a lot like this one from the old Tech Manual: OK, the hub is smaller, the ring is moved inward and the pods are bigger, but I think the design credit goes farther back than the interview suggested. Great review, tho. Good find!!
Mike Delano Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 I agree James - I thought the space dock designe was an obvious homage to the Franz Joseph TM.....
Roktman Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Nice link. While I'm not big in ST, I wish someone would produce the "old Spock's" starship -
Mike Delano Posted August 22, 2009 Author Report Posted August 22, 2009 That was a neat design - has a real organic look to it - reminds me of a jellyfish
