After seeing Gil's A-4 and a couple of more from a club member, it got me thinking of building one also. I was going to use the Hasegawa A-4M but I didn't feel like messing around with so many parts. I looked around some more and almost did the CA TA-4J; nope still too many pieces. I finally came across the Monogram OA-4M. There were just the right amount of pieces for what I was looking for. It feels like "The Three Bears" right now. Anyway, I tried getting this done by last year just to say I built one model last year. I couldn't even get this done by then. So here it is now completed. Not much to say about it except that the decal were the worst part of the build. I got some to stick by using Future as an adhesive for them. Three colors of gray made for a pretty dull bird, but I think it looks kind of cool now that it's finished. I went old school on it for weathering. I used pastels for the panel lines to break up the grayness. This was a quick build when I finally got around to actually spending time building it.

Comments welcomed. Enjoy!

That came out great Bill! Your canopy really sparkles. Did you polish it in any way?

You're right about old Monogram decals. However, I've found if you soak them in very warm/hot water, they tend to soften and conform much easier. Then, do NOT use any kind of decal solvent on them, as they don't seem to react to them anyway. If you follow their instructions on the back of the decal sheet they seem to work better. We're just used to using the "Microscale" system, and don't bother checking for different procedures anymore!

Congrats! That's a sweet looking Scooter! You seem to be able to get the most from those Monogram kits!

Thanks Gil.

A double dip in Future was all I did on the "glass". It seems that this canopy was pretty clear and shiny to start, so the Future added to it. I don't know about about those decals as I just used warm water at first and watched the curl and basically fall off. In fact I ended up taking off what I could and just had it on the shelf au natural. I ended up using what I could. With the camo pattern and the color of the decals it almost looks like there is nothing there anyway.

Thanks for the inspiration from your build.

Bill
