Hello Guys,

A nice gentleman named Len Fricke sold me an old LINDBERG LINE kit of a RUDDEROW Class DE - the USS RILEY. Another nice man named Rick E. Davis sent me some parts from a SKYWAVE/PITROAD set ... and another nice man named Bill Stathis has agreed to build it for me. I just sent everything to Bill today ...

I can't wait to see the finished product. I'm going to have it finished like a photo of the RILEY that I saw on NAVSOURCE. In that photo, I think the DE was in Measure 22 ...

Here's to the DE's!

While DE-766 USS Slater is a Cannon class ship, there is a lot of commonality in the WWII DE hardware. The Slater museum (DEHM) released a 2015 calendar with gorgeous shots of the ship, including drydock pix of the hull. Lots of great reference info there. And it's a great place to visit!

Definitely do pass along some pix of the Riley build.

Navsource has a way of randomly going down. You may be better off downloading the image and directly posting it.

What an outstanding job on a, let's be honest, not very good kit. Great to see what can be done with these gems in the rough....very rough in this case.

I agree, Ron. When he handed it to me, I was - to coin a phrase - shocked and awed.

What Ron said - very nice - !!! About what scale is this critter?

Bob,

Hi, ... sorry for the delay in answering, sir. But, I was a little busy with my online class. The kit is 1:535.

Holy smokes - that is a truly great piece of work. Silk purse, indeed! Did not recognize the kit until you noted the scale.
