This kit had some challenges. I had to make the straps for the book bag and ended up using apoxie sculpt. I'm pleasantly surprised they survived assembly. I sanded off the pins on the book bag and 3d printed new ones, including the RAF wings. I also printed the wheels as the ones in the kit looked like they came from the Flintstones car. The British flag bandana on her arm was a real project to paint. I was almost convinced she looked Scottish or French to me. LOL Of course it was also a challenge to pose her and not make it look like the worst skating accident EVER! Steven

Quite an impressive tour. I've had that Nautilus kit for a while. Do you plan to light it? I've read that the well appointed lounge room is hard to see without lights once it's all buttoned up. It would be a shame if all your work went hidden.

Nice work on him, the details on both the face and the legs really stand out.

Other than being a bit late I don't see any problems with the latest journal. I liked the cover as I've seen Mr. Yang's "Best of Show" winner in full pics and they don't show the incredible detail on this model. I think it's aim is the viewpoint of approaching this giant in another ship, like a movie scene. I only wish all of the contest pics could be larger but I realize that's just not realistic given magazine size, budget, etc. Maybe I've lost track of time but it seems to me the latest FSM is late arriving also, although the zinio digital version is out. I usually get the magazine before the digital notice. Steven

I meant "launching" it with firecrackers. Kids used to do that a lot, so I hear. I only ever did that to one model. I think my allowance would have been cut off if I made a habit of it!

He looks good, properly viscious. Looks like you really put some time into getting that snarl just right. Steven

I don't think I could bring myself to twist the parts off anymore. Of course that may only be because I've spent so much on cutters. LOL But on a serious note, when are the fireworks scheduled?!?!?!

This is the Indy Pace Car kit although I didn't build it as the pace car. It's built out of box, minus the pace car parts and painted with Tamiya Metallic Orange and Clear over Tamiya Pink Primer. I tested the orange over several primers and I thought it looked best over the pink so at one point it looked like a Barbie car. Revell did a nice job with the details but there were some fit problems here and there and it was a major struggle to get the chassis to fit into the body. The wheels are Spazstix chrome, the interior is various sheens of Tamiya blacks and much of the engine compartment is shades of Hot Rod Gray and black, mixed.

I build cars and sometimes I'll mix a TINY amount of alum or some other alclad with chrome to tone it down to more of a polished metal look but I don't know what it would do over the existing chrome.

Nice work all around. They look like they're from the "bad side of Bedrock".

Looking great so far. That vehicle is cool, in a "stone age" kind of way. I don't think I've ever seen Wilma look so sultry or Fred so... low brow. LOL

I'll have to try the MR Surfacer too. Plastikote was my sanding primer of choice on both styrene and resin for years until they went kaput. I've been using Tamiya lately but it limits what paint you can use on a car.

She looks good. Now there are two things about snakes to give me nightmares, fangs and thought of painting them! 'Fraid I can't help with the sculptor or mfr.

It's been a while since I've used MCW but I've used both their primer and Plastikote which is apparently no longer available. I'm fairly certain I've used their paint over Duplicolor sanding primer also. I've had trouble with Duplicolor touch-up paint over Tamiya Primer so I would recommend some serious testing if you want to try that.

Thank you Roktman. She's from the "Evangelion" series from way back, although it apparently still has a big following. I don't watch a lot of anime but Rei has been my favorite character to paint. I think this one is #26 and there are more in the stash. LOL

Thank you Ron, I guess it's mostly a matter of expectations vs. result. I'm not totally happy with the color of the suit. It should be white but I wanted plenty of contrast with the bandages. What you see is the 3rd color I tried. I might have tried another but the suit was all painted by brush (except the stripes at the hips) and I just got tired of doing it over. LOL

This is a resin kit, about 1/7 scale. Didn't come out as well as I had hoped but I'm calling her done.

The name on the cover is now "IUJ" with IPMS/USA Journal underneath. That's neither here nor there to me. It was an excellent issue except for the light gray text.

I just got the May/June issue today. At first I thought there must have been a printing problem but then I saw that the tiny fonts used for the photo captions were much darker, bolder and much easier to read than the main text of the articles. I hope they fix this in future issues. It's a little painful trying to read this "low contrast" print.

I saw this figure as part of a 3d print dio in "Amazing Figure Modeler" and I really wanted to paint the Velma figure. I hunted down the files and printed her, using what tiny 3d file knowledge I have, and a file, as in "metal file" to "remove" the zombie hands. The lower part of her left leg is actually her right leg mirrored, hence the awkward position of her foot. She seems to different than the cartoon Velma I grew up with! I used the headstone and pumpkin from the files and made the base using bondo and model RR grass and turf.
