Making models in the barracks - Virginia
Circuitrider replied to TJNavyAG's topic in Welcome to the Forum!
Thanks TJ. To the collective hivemind who may stumble upon this post (I may cross-post this dependent upon reaction), let's put our heads together and see if we can come up with some creative ways to help this young man practically, and within regs, stow his model building gear!! Submit what ideas you have and let TJ tell us if it'll work. -

Making models in the barracks - Virginia

Hey TJ! Welcome! We are glad to have you. You asked about storage...what are your barracks room space limitations? In other words, where do you stow your stuff? -
Glad to have you, Eugene! Congrats on the retirement! I've got about 8 years until I pull the pin...not that I'm counting or anything. Welcome!

Amongst all of the comments made, this one sentence may be the most cogent, well-thought-out, and reasonable relating to the issue at hand. Kudos.

Quoting from my response to this same issue a few weeks back: "Googling IPMS reveals the following - Integrated Physicians Management Services; Iowa Podiatric Medical Society; Integrated Personnel Management Systems; Integrated Platform Management Systems; International Property Measurement Standards...I could go on... Similarly, our brothers and sisters over at AMPS deal with the same issue. Google "AMPS" and see how many different things pop up. As this world gets smaller the more we will come to realize that the book of Ecclesiastes is correct when it says, '...there is nothing new under the sun.'" So there's another journal that goes by "IUJ"...so what? So should we demand that we stop using IPMS because there are other entities that use the same acronym? Should we begin to complain and castigate the EB for having the temerity to continue to allow the International Plastic Modelers' Society to be known as the (gasp!) IPMS??? Good grief, folks...come on! If you hate the new journal and the changes (including the name), that's fine, but this particular line of reasoning is moot.

There are also other entities, phenomena, ailments, etc. named: IPMS, PMS, AMPS, CA, PVA, PS,...and on and on... Not berating or being argumentative for the sake being argumentative...I guess I just don't understand your point.

Ron, To which logo are you referring? The Journal, as far as I am aware, is a publication limited in distribution to the paying members of the the IPMS only. I feel that the official logo of the IPMS, which is generally the most publicly visible and is also visible on the cover of the most recent journal, does an excellent job of representing the organization. Tweaking is needed as stated, ad nauseum, by those who control such things as is their open and frequent solicitation of input for tweaks for the journal at a widely published email address reserved specifically for that purpose. For those latching on to the "IUJ" moniker: Googling IPMS reveals the following - Integrated Physicians Management Services; Iowa Podiatric Medical Society; Integrated Personnel Management Systems; Integrated Platform Management Systems; International Property Measurement Standards...I could go on... Similarly, our brothers and sisters over at AMPS deal with the same issue. Google "AMPS" and see how many different things pop up. As this world gets smaller the more we will come to realize that the book of Ecclesiastes is correct when it says, "...there is nothing new under the sun."
