  1. no such luck, I would have been able to work with that. The only colors identified were IJN green and gray. I know the prop was brown and the struts were probably black but that's the extent of it. I know Mitsubishi is usually a clear blue over bare metal and IIRC Kowasaki is a shade of tan.
  2. Guys, I'm getting started on the FineMolds 1/48 Judy however the instructions don't show the interior colors that I can recognize (the instructions are in kangi).
  3. The only time I heat photo etch is to achieve the burnt metal appearance in exhaust assemblies or other areas where heat would effect the actual materials on the prototype. And then I heat it over a candle and usually dip it in water to quick cool it. I do this with either brass copper, or steel.
  4. Delusions and hallucinations, I've been around on the boards for a while and within the Society since 1982. I was a charter member of Eagle Squadrons IPMS (back when they were known as RDG (Raleigh, Durham, Goldsburo), it was my suggestion to change to Eagle Squadron) while stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB, I was then stationed at Dover AFB where with Jack Legere was a founding member of the original IPMS Galaxie in 1985. In 1986 I was stationed at Langley AFB where I joined IPMS Tidewater where I've been on and off since. The first two times I was nominated for 2nd VP I couldn't complete my term as I received orders to Kadena AB, Okinawa where I was president of IPMS Shogun for two terms in 1991 and 1994. After my last return to Tidewater I was again nominated as 2nd VP and finally completed my term of progression to be president of Tidewater completing my term in 2007 just before our LAST? sponsored National convention. My primary interests are 1/48 aircraft (WW II and jets) and 1/700 ships. My current project (nearly finished) is the Trumpy 1/350 U.S.S. Lexington which has been an interesting project as it is backdated but not as far as the Yankee Model Works back date set. I hope to have shots of it in the gallery for next month and over on modelwarship.com. There are two complete decal sheets of my jets and there used to be an errata sheet for another. The complete sheets are the Afterburner sheet of Eurpoean 1, Double Ugly F-4's from Seymour Johnson my jet was 67-283 and an Aeromaster sheet featuring 50th anniversary F-15 from Kadena my jet was 78-571. The errata sheet was from Repliscale and AFIK unavailable commercially was for another Kadena jet.
  5. What was their parent wing and what was the time frame? 78th was part of USAFE wasn't it? IIRC Squadron did some books from that era and for USAFE. I'd also look for any and all books on the Sabre to see if there are any shots in passing. I had similar problems with other aircraft for a couple of units I was assigned to but it all worked out in the end.

    67th Fbg

More likely it was un-polished aluminum. These were tired 'D' models taken from the Guard as there weren't enough later model birds for Korea. The 67th gave up P-80's for these aircraft to deploy to Korea during the war and had little time for the niceties of pimping their aircraft. As a former "Fighting Cock" I'd be interested in seeing those shots. I'm in the middle of building a family tree of the 67th, I still need to build an F-86, F-100 D, F-4D and an F-105D. It would nice to finish it before the re-equip with F-35s.
  7. It's most likely Marine, IIRC the Navy isn't flying the UH-1 any more. The protrusions are most likely chaff/flair dispensers.
  8. Gil, I appreciate your thoughts but I have a shot of the Yorktown with F-2Fs on deck, red fore and aft, and as Bob Hester mentions Yellow Wings has a decal sheet for them as well. Another point is that Wasp came after Yorktown and Enterprise and had them assigned.
  9. Guys, I'm working on the AM 1/48 F-3F-1 and I don't want to do it with SOB markings, I'm looking for a shot (or 2 or 3) of F-3F-1's assigned to Enterprise or Yorktown. I have photos of planes assigned to Wasp and Ranger but I'd prefer to do the Big E or Yorktown. The closest I can come are F-2F's assigned to Yorktown or F-3F-2/3 on the Enterprise...I'm looking for specific BuNo.
  10. I'm finishing up on an F-4 G in 1/48 in markings of the last flagship of the 90th at Clark AB in the early 90's. It's the last scheme used on AF F-4's with a few modifications. If all goes well you'll see it in 15 days at VB and next month in the gallery. I'm finally getting the Hasegawa F-4 construction down to eliminate the seams on the intake and spine.
