Here's a WC 63 for comparison. 1/25 scale scratch built mostly of Evergreen plastic and some sheet brass thrown in for good measure.

I've had that happen with some MCW lacquers from bottles that had been around for a few years but also with Ace Hardware interior metallic that I had just purchased and decanted to spray from my airbrush. I wrote it off as "old paint" with the MCW but as long as spray paint still has gas I'm guessing there's no oxygen there so it left me "back to baffled".

The fluorescent paints act a little odd sometimes...

In The Box The kit comes in a sturdy 12” x 8” x 5” box with an illustration of the Tsubaki figure. Images of the finished model can be found on the box sides. Like Gundam kits, it comes molded in multiple colors so that a nicely finished model can be built right out of the box with minimal work. Both painted and unpainted images of the kit are shown on the sides of the box. The kit comes with thirty nine individually bagged sprues molded in eight colors. The engineering of the parts is designed to emulate the paint breaks of the figures complex color scheme. The runners are molded in POM, PVC and ABS and all the parts are designed to be snap fit. Regular solvent based glue will not affect these types of plastic. Figure kits are meant to be posable, thus tougher plastics are necessary so that the joints will both hold a pose and be durable. When I built my Werner’s Wings MH-47E conversion from the Trumpeter CH-47D I found out something that almost made me shelf the model, the landing gear was crap. Not in that it lacked detail but in the fact that it fell apart. The metal was brittle to the point of breaking up into multiple pieces as I tried to assemble it. I tried pinning the metal, but it just shattered more. I finally won but I don’t know how. I would have killed to have this set. View the full review

For years the only way you could get an AH/MH-6 Little Bird in 1/48th scale was to buy a Hasegawa Hughes 500 and a CMK conversion set. This was expensive and sometimes hard to find. Now, thanks to ICM, we can build both kits out of the box. This review is about the MH-6J. View the full review

After sitting on the shelf of doom for over a decade, I am not gonna rush this and mess it up now… 😉 -
Thank you Charles! Yes, this variant is indeed quite similar in role and style to the WC-62, now that you mention it. 🤔 Other variants of the family had quite different configurations on the same chassis and cab.

I’ve had that happen with Mr Color lacquers. I had been warned about the quirk by other users of the brand. Something to do with some of the paint drying in the air as it leaves the airbrush nozzle before reaching the surface of the model and leaving those cotton candy like strands all over. Odd that it happened with Testors paint though. In nearly 40 years of airbrushing those paints I’ve never encountered that phenomenon with them.
-
I seem to recall the same thing happening to me long ago when I tried to airbrush it, except it was also "spiderwebbing" out from the airbrush as well. Since your paint actually made it onto the model it sounds like a much milder form of the problem I had. My guess is that it's drying and sticking to itself in the air.... in my case so badly it never went onto the surfaces and in your case only enough to where the residual particles in the air bonded together, and since they were essentially dry they simply brushed away after they settled. I never found an answer as I've never tried airbrushing it since then. The only answer that comes to mind is perhaps adding a retarder of some sort into the mix. Gil

Here is my latest bits of progress on this one… First I airbrushed on white primer where the white ETO ID markings will be applied on the tail and cowling. The next day I airbrushed on Tamiya Gloss white to those areas Yesterday in the morning I masked off the white ID markings will be areas, and also the wheel wells Then in the afternoon I airbrushed on the Olive Drab 41 and Neutral Gray 43 using AK Real Colors I need to go back and do some touch up on the OD and NG, then I can get the gloss coat on for decals… more to come in a few days… -

In doing what I can 😜 -
Very cool vehicles and nicely built too! I especially like the metallic ones, as they're not overly bright and seem to fit the look of "test" vehicles. What silvers did you use? Gil

What he said! Well done. Sort of like the US WC 62!
