1/144th scale B-29 from Fujimi. Harder to find but a much better B-29 the than old Crown kit. Alclad II finish. Kit decals for Dauntless Dotty, the Pacific Pioneer. Interestingly this plane was flown by Robert Morgan who was also the pilot of the Memphis Belle. First B-29 to land at Saipan in 1944.

Hi, Michael,

Yes, indeed, the Fujimi kit builds up into a very nice B-29. The lines look good, and the glass nose is visually correct. I have this kit in my stash, but what stopped me cold were the cubic spinners on the props. If Fujimi can get the shape of the aircraft correct, why not the props? Your build shows me that this "defect" in the kit is not fatal. I am very impressed with your bare metal finish. Excellent!

At the 2006 Nationals in Kansas City, I bought a Muroc Models 1/144 Bell X-1A and mother plane conversion to use with this kit. That project is on my to-do list.
