flooglestreet Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) I want to build a model of an F-51D Mustang in Kentucky Air National Guard colors. I haven't settled on a scale yet. Can anyone advise me of what kits/ decal sheets are available, or where I could find that information? Edited April 21, 2010 by flooglestreet
David M. Knights Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Ventura Decals made a Sheet with a Ky guard F-51 on it. I have it in 72nd. They don't make it in 48th. Click here for the link to the 72nd scale sheet on their site. If you need more info, let me know. As you can imagine we have a bunch of info on the KY ANG birds from here in Louisville.
flooglestreet Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 Thanks for the offer, and reply. Do you have any information on the plane flown by Capt. Thomas Mantell when he died?
David M. Knights Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Thanks for the offer, and reply. Do you have any information on the plane flown by Capt. Thomas Mantell when he died? I'd have bet that is the one you'd be asking about. I think I can come up with that info. It may take a week as I'll have to check with other club members. For those who don't know, they can Google Capt. Mantell.
adfogel Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 As an aiside to David's terrific help Ventura DID offer the KY ANG F-51 decals in 1/48 (I have a set actually but cannot recall the product code) and 1/32 (product code V3259). They may not list it on their site but if you ask around someone may have a set they would part with. Just helpin' out, Lee
flooglestreet Posted May 1, 2010 Author Report Posted May 1, 2010 Any word yet on that F-51, Mr. Knights? Also, is Osprey a reliable source on the F-51D as flown by the Kentucky Air National Guard?
