ghodges Posted January 22, 2025 Report Posted January 22, 2025 (edited) Just completed my 2nd build for the year, the 1/48 Hasagawa F-104D 2-seat Starfighter. Did some sanding and sawing to shoe-horn an Aires resin cockpit into the model. The bottom front needed sanding to get it to fit into the confined nose area and the rear bottom needed a step sawn into it to clear the nose gear bay. The only reason I added it was that it was already in the box! Check fitting all of the resin and plastic parts to be sure they'll mesh properly when the time comes later in the build. The fuselage has had the nose cone painted and masked and the gloss black enamel sprayed on to prep it for the AK Extreme Metallics NMF paints. The wing tanks are already done. The wings were painted Model Master Gloss White. Many of the fiddly bits are already done and the canopies are masked and ready to be added to the fuselage before painting begins. The markings came from a Victory Productions sheet. On to the finished pics! I built this just to start the year off with a relatively easy build of a "nice" kit and also because although I'd built the Revell and Monogram F-104s, I'd never built the Hasagawa kit. Comments, critiques, and questions welcome, as always! Gil Edited January 22, 2025 by ghodges 1
VMF211 Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 Great job on that 104. I don't care what others say, I like the Hasegawa 104 and you're right Gil, it's relatively easy to build.
