Hm.. what to build next...?

So, I'm about done with the King George. I'm sort of stuck until I get the photoetch bits that I bought off a guy the other day. I'm.. really unsure of what I want to build next.

I have a few ideas.

  • Finish the USS England. I just got the 1/350 20 mm guns and have what may be the last Gator Mask product I'll ever get, sadly. She'll be a full hull on a wood base, lightly weathered for a bit of realism.
  • 1/700 USS Indianapolis + escorting DD. Really, I just love the looks of American treaty cruisers. They're. So. Ugly. But awesome. I also have an old Midship Models USS Henley that I simply want to finish. I've spent a LOT of time sanding/filling/rescribing on this kit and want it out the door, so to speak. The Indy has the Tom's PE set and is a NICE kit.
  • 1/350 Tamiya DKM Bismarck: WEM Ulitmate PE set, wood deck, brass barrels, and all the photo etch AA to make this thing museum quality, if I can muster the skills. Still, this is a long, long term build. Bismarck is one of the few ships I have a ton of resources on.
  • Taffey 3 diorama, in 1/700. I've secured two Fletchers, a Sammy B, and Tom's old but awesome Casablanca-class CVE. The plan is to have the Hoel and the Sammy B still sailing in formation with the Johnston beginning her fateful turn to face down enemy heavies. This is a project that will take a lot of time, love, and effort on my part.

Opinions? I've also got a massive stash of various 1/700 kits that I use to entertain myself between big projects.

INDY! With the 350th Academy kit coming out, it could make a nice contrast to see the differences between scales.

Good luck on whatever you start...and finish.

I'm leaning that way, Bill. I've been eyeing the kit and even put a few bits together to check fit. Tamiya kits just... fit like silk. I love it. Now, that Midship DD....

My first thought would be the England, your so close to finish now anyway.

I hope I am not too late, but I would go with the England or Henley and get one of those two finished.

England is in progress in the "On the Bench" section. :)

I'm also working on a review for IPMS, so that build will be slowed a bit.

Also, add:

  • Tamiya 1/700 Scharnhorst with all the trappings
  • Dragon 1/350 USS Laffey. This was the FIRST kit I ever built. She's uh... spray canned and quite possibly hideous. Still, it's an awesome kit and deserves a total reworking.
  • Some small 1/700 DD just for s**ts and giggles.
  • Orange Hobby 1/700 Graf Zeppelin. Awesome resin kit. Seriously awesome resin kit. I'm tempted to paint her in a "what is" North Sea dazzle in company with two 1/700 Z-class destroyers I have.
