  1. When i say small scale i mean it. The 2 submarines are 1/350 and 1/700 scales which was about all i could find a Type IX-c uboat in. I want to replicate a piece of concept art and actual in game art from the first Uncharted video game. They actually never mention it in the game but the wiki mentioned a number for the sub, it was supposed to have sank off maine but in the game universe it came to the amazon looking for the city of gold. The concept art the 1:700 is going to be used for An in game shot (low quality as i have to get screen caps off my tv) for the 1/350 They actually used the same 3d model for a second uboat you can't interact with in a hidden nazi sub base nearby this one. I'm not sure how to even manage to make a jungle setting for anything this small.
  2. You guys have already been a big help. Had a minor setback as i was hoping to rework some of my dad's models from when he was a teen (we're talking early 60s stuff) but we must have gotten rid of them. I wanted to practice before I started on my new kits so friday i have to go get a 8.00 testors Corsair.
  3. This kit brings back memories, i had it when it first came out and Walmart had a good model section lol. Sadly like nearly every other kit i had it fell to the side thanks to impatience and a short attention span. I agree the camo looks better, even normal olive green inspired by the German flying wing would be good. I always loved the concept art of the flying wing as a passenger craft too. The guns you added are a big improvement as well. Now i wish i'd kept mine so i could redo it lol.
  4. I'll have to see if i can get to it. My friend wants me to go to the anime con down there in April so there might not be enough cash to go around. Don, you aren't missing anything with Pulaski as it has 2 stop signs lol. If you've been near New Castle or Sharon those are the closest cities worth mention.
  5. I'll have to get those engines after christmas then unless i have cash left after buying stuff. I'd like to hide an electric motor behind it if there is room but i am still waitnig for the kit to show up. I appreciate all the help.
  6. Oh okay 4 for 40 isn't as bad. Some of these places make it look like you only get one engine. Well instead of starting another thread i'll just ask in here: do airplane tires really flatten alot sitting on the tarmac? I've seen pics in finescale modeler before that made them look half flat, i figures if anything it would be a very subtle flat spot.
  7. I managed to snag the grumman engines, sounds like the Revell/Monogram 29 cowls aren't as bad as people thought. I saw so many rave reviews about the Cutting Edge ones, i'm glad i didn't drop that insane amount on them. Wow 40.00 for one engine that's more than I paid for the kit lol. That's a good price for the goose engines though.
  8. All these years near Pittsburgh and I never even heard of this one.
  9. I have the 1:48 Revell b-29a on the way and i know the engines won't be accurate and that the cowlings like the Monogram kit aren't accurate. Anyone know a source of resin replacements or how i can fix both issues myself? The engines don't have to be fancy but i'm never happy when i get a kit and the engines have only one row of pistons if they had 2 in real life. I have a Grumman goose that has that issue and i need to find a way to fix it. Any help is appreciated. I found the engines for the Goose easily enough but nothing for the b29.
  10. I'm sure I'll be bugging you guys for help fixing things on kits as I know the one B29 i have on the way the cowlings probably aren't accurate.
  11. I used to be a huge fan of Fine Scale Modeler but over the years they started to get away from my area of interest and now I can't really can't get into it.
  12. Very cool. Funny thing is first one i clicked was my local chapter.
  13. I'm a little of everything. I started out with Trek and Star wars kits in the 90s before anime kits caught on then I moved on to those but the nearest hobby shop is a 2 hour round trip so i settled for what I could get. In college I got more anime kits since it was popular and a lot of places in Pittsburgh had them. Now i'm just going to do whatever catches my fancy I think since I don't have a lot of room.
  14. I'm getting back into modeling after years of not working on any, i did some in college in the late 90s but it kind of fell to the side. I used to read about the IPMS in Finescale modeler all the time and I think a few guys that are part of the local modeling group are members. I usually stick to science fiction but am spreading my interests into replicated some vehicles from video games that are either real life or based on real life machines.
