Thanks again!

Hahaha. Thanks Dave!

I used Gunze paints, Dave, as I posted a few posts before yours. After a wash over to bring our the lines and rivets, I sprayed the whole bird with Clear Gloss.

Hi guys! Yes, I built this OOTB except for the Decals. I wanted mine different looking from the original box decals. I simply got some tips from the Super Saber Society on the nose-job. Placed some additional wires here and there. I painted the baby with Gunze Silver #8, Super Silver #159 and a mixture of both for the third plate color. The exhaust is a combination of Silver and Tan and Black to arrive with that bit of Burnt Titanium shade. I really had fun on this one. Especially on the paint job. About 70 hours was spent on this project. half of it is on painting and finishing.

Last I know they were sold as scrap and were used to make pots and pans which were sold at the road sides in Pampanga Province. Noel

Very Nice!! Makes me wanna build one myself! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the offer, I managed to muddle through...I'll try to post some shots here later, finished the plane several years ago. If I get a chance I hope to meet you guys next summer, wife is going home to Bulacan and I'll follow a little later in the summer. Hi Mark. As a fellow modeler here said, "Let's not complain about the imperfections of a kit. That's why it's called Scale Modeling!". I bet you and I have been through worse. This project was so much fun to me considering that I had to run to the tarmac window one day to get shots of the very plane while waiting for a flight. I was like a kid out there! People were wondering why this middle-aged dude is so fanatic of taking pics of the C130 from that distance. We will NEVER grow old will we? :) Noel

We will be glad to have you during our meeting which is usually on every 3rd Sunday of the month. We can also schedule a special group build to have you with us for chat. Noel

Thanks again. :)

Your post, Bob. Regarding you not having the appropriate PAF decals.

Very nice!!! I made a Philippine Airforce variant myself with the limited reference I have. Here's the pic...

We can help you by sending you a soft file and you can print in on an Ink Jet Decal Paper. What are "IPMSers" for??:) Tell me what width you need specifically. We actually create the decals ourselves from Ink Jet decal sheets.

Yes, its the 1/72 Italeri kit. What a straight forward build except some fitting challenges on the doors. I used Gunze 340 for the Green, 302 for Dark Green and 305 for Gunship Gray. Next in line is the 1.48 AC130. I want to build it with the props running at series with a short delay from one prop to another. Plus the lights working too. Crossing my fingers here!

I did it with Gunze 308 with a wash of Black oils.

That's a nice work-in-progress. I just love that kit!

The finished Herky. Here's the real thing...

Thanks for the complement guys!

I traced it on thin paper (onion skin) then soaked the underside with kerosene (mineral spirits) so that it will kind'a stick to the surface without the brush blowing it away and without harming the Lacquer painted surface coat. I build ships. I use this technique originally there. Hope this helps. Noel

Nice kit!!! Here is the cockpit. There are NO after-market parts here. The engine... The painitng is challenging. I didnt use frisket paper. I simply traced the pattern from the diagram. Then used the traced paper (in cut portions) and sprayed on the body. The delaying factor for moi on this project is the shortage of close-up pics of the Engine Bay and Engine details. Good thing my fellow club-member "Dustoff" gave some pics of this so I tried my best to put in what I can derive from these pics. I still hope to add more as I go on. Maybe anyone out there can share me some of these pics. Adding the doors for the engine bay and cabins.... Like a house, the finishing is terribly taking longer than I thought. And as I get more references, I think of adding stuff here and there. Thanks a million to Dust-off and Fairfax for providing me the pics and references.

Still Work-in-progress on this 1/72 C-130H Hercules of the Philippine Airforce. The paint-job is still on semi-gloss to allow good decal application and setting. The real plane is DEAD FLAT. After that the finishing details...

Hello fellow modelers! I am glad to be back in the forums again after a long and busy period. I have been building since I was in 5th Grade and until now loves the hobby -- next to my family. :) I build planes, ships, armor and anything that gets my mood rolling! Just in case any of you plans to visit Manila, our club, IPMS Manila, will welcome you and help you tour the country. Cheers! Noel
