Scale Aircraft Conversions has developed a set of metal landing gear for the relatively new Airfix 1/72 B-24s. Airfix first released the B-24 H in 2024 and followed by the B-24D in 2025. The kit parts are stout but these metal replacements provide the opportunity for final adjustments and alignment of the gear and wheels. Airfix have addressed the shortcomings of previous B-24 designs by improving the front gear and arranging for solid mounting with 3 contact points. The old Minicraft and Academy kits have only one contact point and the Hasegawa only two. I have included photos of the parts without primer but this is only for clarity and to make it easier to differentiate the SAC gear from the necessary plastic parts. The casting blocks will need to be carefully clipped off and mold part lines cleaned up. View the full review

I asked to review this as I have never used any Yahu Models products before, and I have the Airfix Chevy M6 Bomb Service truck in their USAAD Bomber supply set. Unfortunately, I found out the set, while saying 1/72nd, is actually made for the 1/35th scale ICM series of kits. The back of the package has the correct 1:35 notation. The set is very nicely detailed with 2 small frets of photoetch. The first one has a full-color instrument panel and separate bezels to add to it. The second fret has some pre-printed placards, including for the engine bay. Overall, this set will add a lot of extra detail, even though I think the bezels are a bit too small for my skill level, but I also think you could get away without adding them. Other than the scale confusion, if you have the ICM kits, these will look very good. View the full review

Background NotesThis is a white-metal replacement for the Magic Factory A-4M Skyhawk kit and provides all the small details to match those of the kit’s parts, as well as those from the plastic kit itself. While the Magic Factory’s A-4M kit is a great kit in itself, this aftermarket kit provides two aspects which will aid in completion of the base kit: (1) all of the small details are faithfully replicated in white metal (including expansion marks, collet rings, attachment points for both the rear and front wheels and gear retraction bar) and (2) the added weight provided by the white metal itself adds not only to the strength of the landing gear but more importantly the sheer weight itself of the metal gear parts. There were 13,738 P-40 Warhawks built during World War II, making it the most produced American fighter aircraft of the war. Among the multitude of 1/48 scale P-40s are the new Eduard kits of the P-40E/N. As aircraft modelers well know, aircraft models displayed on their landing gear are susceptible to damage from the weight of the model, especially on styrene landing gear. Scale Aircraft Conversion has had the solution since 1990. Their white metal landing gear is designed to bear the weight of the model and complement the detailed non-load bearing plastic parts. January 18th, 2026 Eboard & Staff Quarterly Meeting Call to Order The meeting was called to order on January 18thth, 2025 at 7:00-ish pm EST by John Noack. Roundtable/Action Item Updates: EA – Currently working on the logistics of creating a new website and migrating the data from the old site to the new one. ETR will work with EA on this process. NKH – Continuing to assist members and chapters with logging into WA and assisting them with other issues that they request help with. Training a backup for the Office Manager functions that is serving as an Assistant Office Manager. Continues to send out journal issues and membership cards as requested. As Event Manager, has prepared the 2026 vendor event. Continues to work with Ft. Wayne on the 2026 Convention and attends zoom meetings with them twice a month. NP – Reviewed the data from the 2025 Convention Survey results. The information was well received by the board and feedback was noted for review and possible implementation. The board was in agreement that in the future the survey needs to be issued closer to the end of the convention for better feedback. PP – Final categories and rules have been submitted for review and approval. DM – Things going well, just short of 11,000 reviews online, 376 reviews posted in 2025. Continuing to work on contacts and updates. Planning the Manufacturer Appreciation dinner. SH – Registration cost for convention will remain the same as 2025. Categories and rules for 2026 have been completed. Trophy sponsorships will start on 20 February and pre-registration should begin 1 March. Continuing to work additional sponsors for the convention and also working with Huntsville already for the 2027 convention. DL – Has been going well in the short time since he stepped in as DLC. Met with 7 of the 14 RC’s via zoom already and is following up with the rest. Has been working on COI requests and planning to work with RC’s on getting awards submitted and making sure all the chapters get their charters renewed. DK – Has been working with chapters holding contests to reinstate the discount for IPMS/USA members at their local contests and shows. JT – Continues to field inquiries received via the contact form. Has not been able to work on the SIG project due to other demands. ETR – Has been looking at junior modeler programs and how we can support them. The Facebook group continues to do well and happy with the current moderation team. Has been communicating with Ft. Wayne about promoting things through posts on the convention Facebook group. YouTube has a couple more videos up and goal is to try and get more regional content uploaded. Posting twice a week now on our X and BlueSky accounts. CB – Having regular working meetings with journal staff. Continues to work with the staff on a style guide to help streamline things across the whole journal. The 2026 Calendar addition to the latest journal has been very positively received and the journal continues to get compliments. Upon opening the cover, there is a reinforced white inner box that does a good job of protecting the kit’s seven gray plastic sprues, and decal sheet (I recently heard on the Beyond the Box Art podcast that ICM’s boxes are designed to withstand the rigors of delivery services, and this box definitely meets that standard). The instructions span 12 pages and cover 38 steps. The downloadable instructions are also available separately online at the ICM website. Take care with small pieces (grab handles, etc) as the plastic is fragile and can break when removed from the sprue gates. View the full review

MMP was founded in 1996 by Roger Wallsgrove, to publish "Mushroom Model Magazine". This quarterly modeling magazine was developed from "Mushroom Monthly", a club newsletter which ran from 1985 to 1995, achieving a world-wide reputation for quality articles, fearless and honest reviews, and a great sense of humor. From 1997, the magazine was produced in collaboration with Robert Peczkowski and Artur Juszczak (Stratus), which meant a big leap in print quality and design. MMP expanded into book publication in 1999 with Stratus, and since then they have built up a list of hard cover and soft cover titles on aircraft and aviation, naval, military vehicles, and military history. Academy’s newest kit is a wonderful version of the B-2A Spirit in 1/144 scale. This is a great scale for this aircraft as it is a large plane. Looking inside the box, you will find four perfectly crisp gray sprues with no flash and minimal mold lines. One clear sprue is included and also a precut masking set for the canopy and a large decal sheet. Markings and stencils are included for a single plane with five choices: B-2A, SN 89-1028, Spirit of Nebraska, 2023B-2A, SN 82-1068, Spirit of New York, 2022B-2A, SN 82-1067, Spirit of Arizona, 2024B-2A, SN 88-0328, Spirit of Texas, 2023B-2A, SN 82-1070, Spirit of Ohio, 2020 View the full review

Scale Aircraft Conversions (who goes by SAC most of the time) produces white metal replacement landing gear sets for a plethora of planes in all scales. In the case of this review, the gear being reviewed are for the 1/32 Zoukei Mura Ta-152H-1. The parts inside include both main landing gear legs as well as the retraction cylinders and oleo struts for each leg. Also included are the rear tail wheel component and its bracket. All are cast in white metal with no seams per se and are well done. As with many SAC retraction struts, mine were a little warped out of the package but easily straightened. View the full review
