Dave, I'm glad to hear that the Nationals will be in Colombia, S.C.in 2016. Maybe there is some hope for the South after all. I hope I can make that one or Columbus, OH next year. Thanks!

It's too bad that we haven't another Nationals down South.

Good idea, Richard. I'm interested in creating my own decals. I was certainly inspired by IPMS/NCT (Lee Thomas) long ago when this subject came up. Thanks!

You're a man after my own heart, Drew! Nice going!

Dick: A newbie has some choices. One set of books by Fine Scale Modeler may still be in print, Classic Combat Aircraft Vol. 1 -3 Modeling WWII Aircraft. A really good basic book is out of print: How To Build Plastic Model Aircraft by Roscoe Creed. It was first published in 1985 or '86 and was a great book. Amazon.com or eBay may have copies available. That gives you up to four possible books. I'm sure there are others I don't know about. Good luck!

Keep up the good work, Gil! I wish I could attend the Nationals this year and see all the great work. I guess it will have to wait until next year at Columbus. Have fun,

Yeah, I know Chris will ultimately make our solar systems safe for us humanoids. What a cause for planetary justice. Congrats Chris!

Has anyone tried to order anything direct from Hobby Decal instead of the usual way of ordering one of their products from a vendor? I originally wanted to order some of their dry transfer sheets from them (as well as try likewise from the Sprue Brothers) to no avail. Their processing is slower than frozen molasses in the wintertime.

Good start, Pawel. I'm still progressing very slowly on my F-86. Keep up your good work!

I'm priming my F-86 Sabre with the Alclad II grey primer per instructions and noticed it was rather thick applied by airbrush to the surface. The instructions did not mention thinning the primer- only applying it at 12 to 15 PSI. I've certainly have had to sand down the primer to remove all blemishes. This is my first time I've used Alclad II and have used many other metalizers for the last 40 years with good results. Has anyone had any experience with this product lately? Many thanks,

Well done Dave!

Way to go, Gil! Welcome to the Golden Age! That's one of the primary areas I like to camp out. It looks great! I built the old Williams Bros. kit years ago, but it was damaged in a move. I hope to repair it sometime in the future. Best,

Bravo! Congratulations, Duke!

Gil: I'm using last years (2013) IPMS Nationals decal sheet from Twobobs: the Colorado Air National Guard F-86F in the aerial demonstration team, the "Minute Men", courtesy of a fellow IPMS member, Mr. Mike Quan. I owe him a debt of gratitude! I've puttied over the gun ports and removed all the raised rivet detail.(It was a Project "Gunval" Sabre which employed four 20 mm cannon in place of the normal six .50 caliber machine guns and used in the Korean War for a brief period, after which some of these Sabres ended up in Colorado with the ANG). I'm trying the Alclad II Grey Primer (and eventually Regular Alclad II Aluminum) and since there was no way to really thin this primer out per instructions, I've had to do some sanding to smooth it over. I'll keep you posted. Best,
Mark
