RGronovius
Interesting array of X-Wings; are they being built by different modelers in different schemes on purpose for variety or by coincidence?
dlots1701a
on purpose. 3 different modelers are working on the x-wings we are going from red leader to red six and our star wars historian/expert looked up color schemes for all of the x-wings from red leader to red six so that is what we went by. RGronovius
I thought as much, great looking concept, should be the definition of the term "group build". I see you're using the former MPC X-Wings, one of (if not the very first) Star Wars model I ever built. I tried building one again in 1991 when it was reissued by AMT/Ertl, I never was satisfied with the build. I built one of the Fine Molds ones several years ago and the Revell snap together kit for my son more recently, I doubt I'd ever go back to that old MPC/AMT/Ertl kit! dlots1701a
like you i have the fine molds 1/48 great kit but for this build uneconomical, when building these i discovered the fun of building star wars subjects again, go back to the mpc's not the amt's and their warped bodies, sure they are not 100% accurate they are fun kits to build. RGronovius
The Fine Molds kits are definitely not economical, although the Revell snap together kits are cheap (even more so if you use the Hobby Lobby 40% coupon), and pretty nice themselves. Revell's Y-Wing was a particularly nice kit compared to the previous MPC/AMT/Ertl kit and is a nice compromise between the high end FM kits and original kits. If you ever run across a spare MPC A-Wing canopy, give me a holler. My old kit is missing one!
dlots1701a
got a a-wing that is broke never going to build it is yours write me a dlots1701a@charter.net for your address
dlots1701a
as far as the revell x-wings and y-wings they are not in scale with the revell tie fighters that's why we used the mpc kits they were as for the y-wings they are going to be in a forced perspective situation since they are not in scale
