phantomordie Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 While pondering a way to replicate the quilting in the 1/24 Revell Huey I am building I took the top of a styrofoam egg carton and grooved some lines with a beveled tool the same as part of the interior that was already quilted and it turned out great, Then I used some of the styrofoam to make new seat coushions,The styrofoam egg carton is only about 1/8 inch thick and has a lot of possaibilities.
dsteingass Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 I was able to make a quilted texture for a plush seat cushion by spreading some Squadron Green Putty, and then pressing a peice of granny grating (crosstitch fabric) into it until it cured enough (about 30 mins) Sort of like a reverse pressmold ;)
dsteingass Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 (edited) I accidently discovered this method when I was making some bases and trying to glue round-holed granny-grating with gap-filling CA It didn't stick, but the happy accident did ;) Edited May 4, 2012 by dsteingass
