This specialized fighter-bomber boasted improved climbing, diving and turning over the A-series, as well as faster horizontal speeds. Jagdgeschwader 26 (JG 26) flew the Fw 190D-9 in air raids against the R.A.F. Schlachtgeschwader 10 (SG 10) used it for close air support in Russia and Eastern Europe.
